Chase Minnifield commits to UVA

Featured Replies

Rivals is reporting that Henry Clay's Chase Minnifield has commited to Virginia over offers from UofL, UK, Illinois, and MTSU.

Good luck to him in the ACC...

Great news for UVA and for Chase. Great player who will still be pursued, even moreso, until he actually signs!

Reportedly, it came down to Louisville and the Cavaliers. I'm disapointed to see him go, but best of luck to him.

It did come down to UVA and UofL...here is a small piece from the article that is on rivals.

After making his decision, Minnifield admitted that it was a tough choice. "I did not know what my decision was going to be until this morning," Minnifield said. "My father didn't even know what I was going to do until he arrived here. "I felt that I was leaning a little bit toward Louisville last night, and my Mom told me to pray on it. Wne we talked this morning we decided that Virginia was the right place for everything it offered, especially academics."

Congratulations to Chase. That is great! Another stud from Lexington that UK has missed out on:( It's sad news when you can't keep the kids from your own backyard! There has been a lot of talent from Lexington to get away from UK.

This kid could be a great back.

Short memory, Stick. Yes, UK loses players but its not like they're losing them to Southern Miss or UAB. Have you forgotten the kids that have stayed DESPITE their lack of success?

Good for this kid. Great school. A degree from UVA could be his best asset in four years.

Virginia is coming up with a nice '07 class so far.

I really liked what I saw of Minnifield last year. The sky is the limit.

Congrats!!!

You aren't going to find anywhere that I said they are going to Southern Miss and UAB that is your words. My point is that when you can't get kids in your city to come to your school and they instead take off to other top D1 schools then you aren't going to progress much. If you can't understand that then drive up to Louisville and see what Petrino is doing with Bush, Brohm, Urrita all from Louisville. Louisville might lose some kids but they sign a lot of big kids from their city. If you think UK is getting the top kids from Lexington then you don't know a lot about Lexington football. Of course you are the same person that called Coach Sphire out all year before he won it last year too so that pretty much tells me how much you are in Lexington.

This should be Chase's thread and I shouldn't have brought up UK. I've had season tickets there since 1980 so it's frustrating. If you want to argue this topic in the college forum then feel free to start a thread there and I'll check it.

Congrats Chase! UVA is a GREAT school and Coach Groh is doing good things there! He also has tons of connections!

How big is this kid? Power or or shifty?

Gosh I'm old, I remember when that name meant basketball :p

Woody Jr

You've painted a nice image in my mind. Just like Woody, Minnefield and the city of Lexington make me think of a quick smallish figure.:D

Just another reason to get after him if he meets up with the Rocks this season. He stated that he feels certain UVA's coach will remain "throughout his career there". He didn;t feel confident Coach Petrino was going to be around U of L for four or five more years.
