I'm interested in seeing Davonte Robinson of Henry Clay. Solid commitment for Coach Stoops and UK. I don't think Henry Clay can win this, but they may keep it close for a half before X takes control. Should be a good start to the Bluegrass Bowl at Lexington Catholic.

Hope the Tigers win, but at this point, the confidence factor is really low from a fan perspective . . . If X does not come ready to play, I say HC takes the W!!! AND it just might be in convincing fashion!!!!!

Not intending to be mean, but I thought Henry Clay looked out of shape and a little flabby when they scrimmaged Trinity two weeks ago. Of course, it's a long season and by mid-season the Devils may be as fit as can be. I would be surprised if X is not fit right now, however. Just my observation---may be wrong.

I too was looking forward to seeing Robinson play when HC made the visit to Trinity. I hate to sound like a homer but he was "MAYBE" a top 10 player on the field that night. He really wasn't very interested in the game maybe because it was a scrimmage - or, we have way more talent on both sides of the ball. I already said this but the whole team didn't seem very interested. Hope I'm wrong with my assessment as I pull for the Cats and Cards. And I love to see local talent going to both schools. Just need to see much more out of guys going to SEC and ACC schools. A lot more!

I will say, Davonte Robinson will be the best player on the field in the Henry Clay/St. Xavier game Friday night. He is an outstanding football player and may even be better on the next level. And then he may even be better on the next level. It is unfair to speak of a high school kid and his NFL potential, but Davonte has a skill set to play on Sundays.

I am not disagreeing with you. I did not see the game and have no explanation for why Davonte may have played poorly in your eyes.

 

You have seen him in one scrimmage game. I have seen him in many games in the past two years. I have seen him run track. I have seen him at UK's camp.

 

Trust me when I say he is a special player. Or if not, just ask Coach Stoops. He feels the same way.

I'm curious how you feel about team mascots that imply wickedness (ie 'the Bombers') but do not invoke archtypical evil.

I'm curious why a person is under the assumption that a player with a D-1 offer has to be the game MVP or play well every week? Maybe he didn't play well that day. Division 1 offers are given out based on several factors that have been gone over many times in many threads. High school stats are not among the top 3-4 things on that list, especially a 1 game performance. The comment "the best player on the field" decided by you is simply problematic. There are games across the state and country every Friday night with D-1 offensive linemen participating and I have never seen 1 named game MVP or heard anyone call them the best player on the field. IMO you are looking for certain things and seeing what you want to see.
