From another thread:

Dixie got absolutely smoked by BW in the scrimmage tonight. It was live scoring and the varsity game was halted after 3 qtrs. with the Tigers up 27-6. The Wood's D was stifling and the Fieger to Slusher combination finally got it rolling. Big yards by Stringer in the beginning. I have not seen CCH yet but Dixie looked flat and out of condition. They were cramping all night.

Anyone have a final score?

I find this puzzling since last year everyone was impressed with how well conditioned Dixie was compared to past years.

In this scrimmage, the varsity teams played live action football for 3 quarters. Here is a drive by drive summary:

First Quarter

DH at own 32 - Punt

BW at own 4 - Drove downfield; German 31 yard FG; 3-0 BW at 3:10

DH at 20 - 1 1st down then punt

Second Quarter

BW at Dixie 40 - Fieger to Slusher 8 yard TD; German XP; BW 10-0 at 10:32

DH at own 20 - Went for it on 4th down and got it but then had to punt

BW at 21 - 3 and out

DH at 50 - Went for it on 4th down, QB fumble, DT Rowe scooped ball and ran it into the end zone. Unfortunately, at the 10 yard line Rowe raised his hand in celebration and got called for unsportsmanlike so BW got the ball on the Dixie 31.

BW at Dixie 31 - German 26 yard FG; BW 13-0 with 44 seconds till halftime

Third Quarter

DH at BW 17 - Recovered a short kickoff; Slusher interception on second play

BW at 25 - 3 and out

DH at 25 - 3 and out

BW at 34 - 3 and out

DH at 28 - Threw a hail Mary on 4th and long, incomplete

BW at Dixie 33 - Fieger to Soward 26 yard TD; German XP; 20-0 at 4:32

DH at 26 - BW put in their second team defense; Dixie #29 3 yard TD run; 2 point try no good; BW 20-DH 6 with 1:35 to go

BW 27 - BW put in first team offense and ran their 2 minute offense; Fieger to Slusher 15 yard TD; German XP with 22 seconds left

The Tigers looked pretty good tonight. They will get better. The offensive line still is working things out but the defense looked good. It should be a good battle next week in the opener versus Lloyd.

Oh, one more note, Brett Slusher is the man. The kid just makes plays all night long. He may be the best football player in Northern Kentucky.

In the JV part of the scrimmage, which was the 4th quarter of the game, Dixie outscored Beechwood 14-6. Dixie had a couple of good looking run backs, #3 and #3 1. Sorry I did not have a roster so I don't know their names. #3 1 especially looked good. Very fast, good power and tough. On the Beechwood TD, QB Burch threw led Elijah McKenry perfectly and he made an awesome catch diving in the end zone.

The Beechwood freshmen only got one series on offense and one on defense, They intercepted a Dixie pass on defense. On offense, they marched 70 yards for a TD scored by Noah Howard. The Beechwood freshman team looks really, really good.

I find this puzzling since last year everyone was impressed with how well conditioned Dixie was compared to past years.

Last year's Dixie class was an anomaly. So many athletes conditioned from wrestling. I don't think we will ever see again a team in 6A get to a state championship game playing two way players.
