Beechwood 27 Dixie Heights 6 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

Last year's Dixie class was an anomaly. So many athletes conditioned from wrestling. I don't think we will ever see again a team in 6A get to a state championship game playing two way players.

Dixie should have the year they knocked off Trinity. Had quite a few two-way players then. Pretty good team that year.

I recall the score being 20-6 while the majority of ones played but hey, why gripe over exaggerated feedback ( absolutely smoked...comes to mind ).

Beechwood did a good job taking advantage of a green Dixie o-line and a backup QB. Beechwoods d-line and LB corps are very good. If they stay healthy, they should have a fantastic season. Best of luck to the Tigers.

The Scott-Dixie Heights game on Friday will be a much better indicator of where Dixie stands week 1. A lot of football to be played folks!!!

FYI, for all the blowhards who like making stuff up about there team, I.E Beechwood. On my way home from Ryle's win over CCH, I stopped by BW. Two friends of mine, (SCOTT coaches ) said the score was 13-6 when Dixie pulled most of it's starting D in the second half. Dixie will struggle without it's starting QB, but like Content 1 said I find it hard to believe this to be a beat down? No, this isn't the Dixie team of last season that beat my Raiders twice, and SMOKED SK ( 60-10, put that in just for you SK guy), which is obvious, but my friends said when Dixie get's it's QB back they will be OK, very young team I've been told as well. Just some food for thought.

Is 3 really a lot?? Brandon Johnson, Roy Bowers and DeMatteo are the only wrestlers I could find on last years roster. There may have been a couple more on the freshman team that wrestled, but to say there were a bunch of wrestlers on the football team is a stretch.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I guarantee you there will be teams that make it to the finals in 6A that have players that play both ways. Not the entire team but a player here and there is not an oddity at all. Your comment would be like saying no 6A team can ever beat another 6A team if they have players that play both ways.

That is false. Dixie wasn't an anomaly.

Shoot, even Trinity has some players that play both ways, Rodjay Burns for example. Not a lot of them mind you, but still...

I hate to give you some bad news but from the post above, the blowhards making stuff up apparently are your Scott coaching friends. Check out post #6 above that has the game details in it. The score was never 13-6. And the team that pulled its starting defense was Beechwood when it was 20-0, so Dixie scored their only TD versus BW's 2's.

I will agree that I would not call this a beat down, but Beechwood was in clear control of this game all the way. Dixie will be better with their starting QB.

Just so we are all clear....Dixie is not the only team that played with a "green" O-line. Beechwoods line (both offensive and defensive) has only 1 returning starter. Beechwood controlled the line of scrimmage which was not expected...in my opinion.

For Scott's sake I hope those "coaches" coach better than they scout.
