Clyde
Like military reunion videos I can't get enough of watching walk-ons find out they're getting a scholly. NC State assistant gives passionate speech before rewarding scholarship
Pioneer.Pride
Hate to be a party pooper, but those are made for tv events designed to attract future walk ons. Pure propoganda! Loved the one by Brian Kelly recently. A fifth year walk on getting a scholly in his last year! Still walking out the door with 6 figure debt. And to leave Notre Dame with a degree, yeah, I'm guessing he will be alright. I mean, he went to Notre Dame and played football. Sounds like a dream come true. Unless you don't like ND. I just find many people have a Romanticized view of Division 1A college football. All I see is a cold, brutal, morally bankrupt, exploitive business. I find the whole concept of volunteering your time for a multi billion dollar enterprise ridiculous.

I wonder how he will feel 10 years from now when he is still writing checks for student loans and has to put off buying a house and getting married because of crushing debt! I should have shared this info with my daughters boyfriend. He turned down a full ride to UL Law School to go to Notre Dame. I will admit I didn't understand it at first. But right now he is deciding what paid summer internship to take next year after interviewing at several firms.....oh, the pay 9-10k a month. Pioneer.Pride
What it was either take on loans or not go to college? Or get educated for free playing for a lower level program, while having the time to actually pursue a meaningful degree program instead of "The African American Studies" D1 programs use to keep kids eligible ! Jumper_Dad
So no way the kid is smart enough to get an academic scholarship? No way his parents had saved since he was born to send him to Notre Dame? Maybe he does have some student loans, by getting this last year paid for they will be 20% smaller. I don't know. A kid who has the guts to stick out being a walk-on, work hard enough to stand out to the coaches and all while maintaining grades from a very difficult university sounds like the type of kid employers would want. Could not agree more! Of coarse employers want young, hard working workers that don't realize the value of what they offer is far less than what they receive!
