I think he was talking about experience against Highlands...... Which actually doesn't mean anything. Guess what folks, Higlands also doesn't have experience against Cooper. Kind of means the same lol.

 

Cooper could very very well lose. I would love to hear a prediction score from Ukfan although he is always afraid to commit which is no surprise. He says HHS will win by a lot which in the prediction handbook equates to win by 50 so unless he clarifies a score I will assume he means by at least 50. Let's see how close he is.

 

Now ow for everyone else predicting a blowout allow me to remind everyone that Cooper just shut out 3 teams in scrimmages last night. Oldham co, Dunbar and someone else. Never sleep on Coopers Defense folks.

I'll take a stab and say Highlands by 42-21. I still see them being strong on offense, but not having the defense together this early.

HHS D was way ahead of the O last night in scrimmage against X. The O looked bad and put the D on the field all night long and X had very short field on O all night long, a huge percentage of their drives started on their own half of field. I was acctually pretty impressed how the D did. One thing on D was they were letting ball carriers get 3-4 yards extra after first hit, a lot of up high tackles. On O HHS needs lots of work (They were playing first game and it was against a very big/good team so hard to say what they will look like next week). Hergott did not impress, looked nervous handling the snap and dropped in several times, under/over threw a lot, one INT. he threw right to chest of X defender with no HHS player around, looked slow trying to run around end on keeper. On his two TD throws, first the WR was WIDE open and it was so under thrown it was almost int. On second TD throw, it looked like a Hail Mary pass and the HHS WR just made a better/very good move for the ball. It was his first game against X so can not make opinion on him just for this game, hopefully he continues to improve. RB's did not do much either, but not much running room either. #3 Pulsfort needs to run N and S, he spent most of night going E and W and even stopping a lot in back field, turn your shoulder pads N and S and take what you can get it holes close up. Once agian he was trying to run against a good X defense with little running room. No WR's stood out, but not a lot of passing.

Special teams looked pretty good. Will get a better feel for this team next week when the play a team more on their level, X is on much different level than HHS this year.

The series that included the bad snaps was NOT played by Evan Richardson. He was money with his snaps all of last year, and was excellent again last night.

I have watched the last 5 season opening scrimmages for the Birds. They have not looked good in any of the 5. The four previous being against Trinity and last night with Cincy St X.

 

The difference in week two is usually quite remarkable. It seems to be part of the HHS formula for success. Results speak for themselves.

 

I predict a Bluebird win. Not a blowout, maybe a two score game.

Well said, Birdie. There is definitely a lot for the birds to work on in the next week; knowing Brian W well, I'm confident he get things in the right direction. I was shocked at Hergott's performance as well; I anticipated a lot more. My hope is that he was just hyped up for his first varsity start and he will settle into the position as the year goes on.

 

I was also surprised that the o-line struggled; they looked very unlike the traditional well oiled machine Coach Turner runs out each year. Icompletely understand that X is a notch above, but with three returning starters, I kind of expected more. Is Carson Haas no longer starting? I would anticipate Coach Turner will have them much improved by Friday.

I'll be surprised if this is a blowout. IMO, Cooper is best coached team in NKY. Their defense is very good. Offensively they block well and their RB was the best I seen last year. Only question mark is at QB and I don't think it is really that big of a question because this staff has proven in the past the ability to have a new QB developed and ready to go at the start of the season. Tough first game for Cooper but I wouldn't be shocked if this game went either way.

be closer than what Ukfan predicted. I will predict he will be eating crow already in the first week of the season.
