Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Just for fun... Now that all of the BGP pre-season power rankings for all of the 5 regions have been released, anyone care to take a stab at combining them into one master-list? Top 25 teams or so? EASTERN KENTUCKY 1) Pulaski County (5A) 2) Belfry (3A) 3) Johnson Central (4A) 4) Southwestern (5A) 5) Ashland (4A) 6) Raceland (1A) 7) Corbin (3A) 8) Russell (3A) 9) Bell County (3A) 10) Shelby Valley (2A) NORTHERN KENTUCKY 1) Highlands (5A) 2) Simon Kenton (6A) 3)Ryle (6A) 4) Dixie Heights (5A) 5) Cooper (6A) 6) Covington Catholic (5A) 7) Campbell County (6A) 8) Newport Central Catholic (2A) 9) Beechood (1A) 10) Scott (4A) WESTERN KENTUCKY 1) Bowling Green (5A) 2) Mayfield (2A) 3) South Warren (4A) 4) Owensboro (5A) 5) McCracken County (6A) 6) Christian County (5A) 7) Murray (2A) 8) Hopkinsville (4A) 9) Caldwell County (3A) 10) Owensboro Catholic (2A) LEXINGTON / CENTRAL KENTUCKY 1) Henry Clay (6A) 2) Scott County (6A) 3) Lafayette (6A) 4) Lexington Catholic (3A) 5) Boyle County (3A) 6) Anderson County (5A) 7) Franklin County (5A) 8) Frankfort (1A) 9) Danville (2A) 10) Paris (1A) LOUISVILLE AREA 1) Trinity (6A) 2) Male (6A) 3) St. Xavier (6A) 4) Ballard (6A) 5) St. Francis DeSales (2A) 6) Christian Academy of Louisville (2A) 7) DuPont Manual (6A) 8) Central (3A) 9) Butler (6A) 10) North Hardin (6A)
ATLCat Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Nice thread CWB! I aint skeered.... I'll take a blind crack at it 1. Trinity 2. Male 3. Highlands 4. Bowling Green 5. St. Xavier 6. Pulaski County 7. Ballard 8. Scott County (I disagree slightly with the CKY ranking) 9. Simon Kenton 10. Manual 11. Belfry 12. Johnson Central 13. Mayfield 14. DeSales 15. Central 16. Lafayette 17. LexCath 18. John Hardin 19. Owensboro 20. Boyle County 21. South Warren 22. McCracken County 23. Henry Clay 24. Ryle 24. Christian County
NKY Bandit Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Not so sure about Pulaski but like the top 10 ATL.
psychicscubadiver Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'll try my hand. Though, everything from 15 down I am less than certain about. 1. Trinity 2. Male (very close, almost a tossup for first) 3. Highlands 4. Bowling Green 5. St. Xavier (hopefully better than expected, their games against 3 and 4 will tell) 6. Pulaski County 7. Ballard 8.Manual (could be better than Ballard, the coming season will decide) 9. Simon Kenton 10. Scott County 11. Belfry 12. Johnson Central 13. DeSales (whether they or Mayfield are better will likely be argued all season) 14. Mayfield 15. Central 16. Central Hardin 17. Lafayette 18. LexCath 19. McCracken County 20. John Hardin 21. Meade County 22. Ryle (it feels odd putting them so low, given that I expect them to be good) 23. Owensboro 24. Boyle County 25. Henry Clay
FootballBobcat Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I would put CAL in the 15 spot as they are normally right there with DeSales. Flip a coin as to who is better. One question I have about Ballard is the QB spot. Keep hearing that is their biggest question coming into the season. Have lots of talent all around in the other areas. Any news on who is their QB this season? Are they going with a Wing T type offense or some type of spread offense?
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I don't see any way that CovCath is t in the top 25 teams in the state.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 I don't see any way that CovCath isn't in the top 25 teams in the state. Agreed. ...not when Johnson County is at #12 .
NKY Bandit Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 For me, CovCath didn't finish as well as predicted last year and went through a coaching change. Just don't have a feel for them right now.
UK fball fan Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 1) Trinity 2) Male 3) St X 4) Manual 5) Bowling Green 6) Highlands 7) Scott Co 8) Ballard 9) Desales 10) C.Hardin 11) Belfry 12) Mayfield 13) Pulaski Co 14) Henry Clay 15) Lex Catholic 16) Lafayette 17) Simon Kenton 18) Johnson Central 19) Boyle Co 20) CAL 21) Christian Co 22) Cov Catholic 23) Butler 24) Central 25) Anderson Co
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) For me, CovCath didn't finish as well as predicted last year and went through a coaching change. Just don't have a feel for them right now. I can see where you might say that...but the way I see it, they got a coach who was already familiar with the school program and Cov Cath's competition, and who already has success in NKY and the state. Also, I think much of the way Cov Cath finished last year will be resolved with the new coach and new approach to things. Anyway, all that aside, I'm not saying there's no chance that the likes of Mayfield, DeSales, Central, Belfry, and Johnson Central wouldn't potentially be able to hang a loss on Cov Cath (after all, Beechwood beat Cov Cath last year), but I don't see all 5 of those lower division schools beating Cov Cath. After all, Cov Cath did beat Johnson Central in the playoffs last season. I'd be okay seeing Cov Cath in maybe an 18-25 spot when you put everything together, but in the least "homer" fashion as I can possibly say it, think it looks a bit suspect to not have Cov Cath anywhere in the top 25. Why go 'old-school' when you can go 'old-old-old-OLD school!'
