The album has sold an estimated 49 million copies worldwide to date, making it the second highest-selling album of all time, and the best-selling hard rock or heavy metal album. It was also the 2nd highest selling album of the 80's.

This album was so much a big deal to me when it came out when I was 16, and while I initially was hoping in some ways to find that it didn't measure up to Bon Scott era AC/DC, it in fact did and maybe even more so somehow. I couldn't deny that it flat out rocked, and from one song to the next the goodies just kept coming. It's such a well produced well focused release.

 

My musical tastes continued to change, and after a few more AC/DC releases I had started to feel that their format was getting tired and stagnant. No matter which direction musically I took, when I give this classic a spin it sounds as fresh to me today as it did when first hearing it. It's timeless and there ain't no denying no matter how much AC/DC gets the rap that they've never progressed... Back in Black just flat out rocks, and the eternal party in my mind immediately gets reignited all over again.

Made a round trip to Central Indiana last Sunday taking family home that had a break down while visiting for wedding. On the drive home alone I rolled the windows down and cranked up the stereo up...was listening to ACDC as I came through NKY on the way home.

Actually I think Thriller is all time Original Album Seller. I think Eagles Greatest Hits is all time greatest seller. (Much to Jim Shues disgust)

Sure would've been a lot better with a better singer, instead of a guy who has the perpetual "I'm squeezing out a really big turd" look on his face/sound to his voice.
