35 years ago today........They Shook You All Night Long!

Sure would've been a lot better with a better singer, instead of a guy who has the perpetual "I'm squeezing out a really big turd" look on his face/sound to his voice.

Thanks, I'll be here all week …

I get what you're saying but back then he was still just young enough to pull it off and still make it sound pretty tough and cool.

Now however I'll side with what you're saying. He's really been for awhile ridiculously sounding like someone's 97 year old granny, which is a bit hard to pump my fist to.

Youngster.

Thank you Pops... Any chance I get to be called a youngster I'll run with it all day. As long as someone is older than me I can keep fooling myself into believing that I'm still just a kid.

I saw AC/DC when they did their Back in Black tour. Had front row seats right by the stacks. My hearing hasn't been the same since. :lol2:

I still smile when my 16 year old girl turns up the radio when ACDC and Ozzy come on.

Are you actually trying to tell me he sounds different than he did on that record? Because I'm just not noticing it. All I hear is shrill awfulness out of his mouth. For 35 years.

Bet those shrill vocals got you.

Yeah...I think that there's a noticeable difference between his shrill now than from 35 years ago. Somewhere along the way it started sounding even more worn and it got to the point where I was picturing an old lady singing, if you can call it that. He pulled off a stronger rockin' shrill years ago, where now the struggle to squeeze it out is all too evident.

That's a pretty tough slide when Brian Johnson's square one absolute best in 1980 was horrendously awful.

This is Thunderstruck from 1990 and about the time that I started noticing where there was a change happening with his voice where it was obvious to me they needed even more studio tricks to get him there.

...And live the struggle is even more apparent...

I'm not clicking on any of that mess.

The problem is, "Thunderstruck" has always been one of the most horrible songs ever, even when it was brand-new. The slew of cats that were yowling just outside my door last night sound better than Brian Johnson on his best day.

Ugh. HS football season is right around the corner. I'll be hearing that abortion of a song repeatedly for months on PA systems everywhere.

I was thinking passing a kidney stone, but close enough.

Saw them in '82. Speakers aimed at me and I was deaf for a while.

I've checked with the judges, and they'll allow it.

C'mon, Jim. You know you want to.

AC/DC is the finest example — along with Van Halen — about how a great thing can go horribly wrong by picking the wrong lead singer.
