I would say either, Lee Evans or TJ Maynard or even Jeff Frasure would all be good choices.

 

 

 

 

UKCATSFAN, I don't think McPeek is at Lawrence at the moment, he left there two years ago. McPeek's nephew Nate also could get a look at too.

 

 

He was there last year. I officiated the Boyd vs Lawrence game last year and he was there. He was on the field before the game. I didn't have Lawrences sideline so I don't know if he was coaching for Lawrence or just there for support of Nathan. I just assumed he was since he was there for the officials and coaches meeting prior to the game.

I just won a state championship this year and have been in 3 final fours since 1991 but I'll take your word that I couldn't coach. Your opinion speaks for itself. I'd love to coach Russell and their athletes any day in 2A ball. I don't think you will find many on here that will buy that they don't usually have superior athletes in 2A. Congrats on being Kasey's brother by the way. He represents Eastern KY well!

As for the Texas/USC game... VicneYoung won that game plain and simple. Once again 1 player on a team can make a difference. The Texas defense sure as heck didn't win the game it was their offense led by an elite player much like your brother.

I thought that this thread was about the head coaching job at Boyd County. And if that is so, I have heard that the window to apply closes the 13th and at this time there are two applicants, one local and one from out of the area. I am suprised that there are so few applicants.

I guess being Kasey's brother makes you a know it all so I'll just leave you be. By the way I saw Russell's OL walking on the turf in Louisville as I was walking off. If you think they were small then I won't even try to argue with you. While they aren't the size of Belfry, they are hardly hurting up front! If you would like to argue then feel free to PM. If not then good luck to your brother next year. We have taken this Boyd Co coaching thread way off on a tangent and I'm sure others are getting tired of it.

But I believe I do know a little bit about Russell's players, I guess they probaly did look a bit bigger when they're standing over you. I don't want an argument, I just thought you were trying bow your chest out by listing your creditials. I'm sure you know the game well, we just have different ideas as to what it takes to win. That's 1 reason why this game is so special, there are so many ways to play. I do respect your opinion and wish you nothing but the best in your coaching ventures, I hope we both become Head coaches some time so we can try our theories out against one another. A little Birdie told me that T.J. has been offered the job but has declined. I could be wrong, I have not spoken to T.J., but a reliable birdie told me it was true.

Perhaps part of the difficulty is the principal issue ??

 

I am not privy to any facts currently at BC but does anyone else feel that part of the reason for only 2 applicants (if true) could partially be included in my earlier post #78:

I think most of us often dont know what goes on behind the scenes and form opinions based on conjecture or personal feelings. When you see schools have a hard time keeping or getting quality coaches, or recycyling coaches on a regular basis you may want to consider its because some do not trust or feel comfortable with how that school has handled matters in the past. From what i've been told, they have numerous apps.They are just waiting out the required time.The assistant coaches are still working with the boys in the wieghtroom and trying to keep things rolling along:thumb:

as far as the new head coach i belive lee evans is the perfect man for the job hes more of an old school type coach who doesnt care who u r or who ur mommy and daddy are or how good u r ur still gonna work jsut as hard as everyone else for him and i belive that more coaches need to be like that

I do know I've been watching the practices and so far evans does seem to be giving all the boys a shot at showing what they can do in different positions other than walking on the field and saying "ok, your going to be my superstar this year, don't care if you've ever qb'd or not your it so get ready"

I think the boys will respect a coach that lets them show where their strengths already are instead of trying to make them change to suit the momma does this daddy does that so thier son gets best spot attitude.

They had better learn to play as a team real quick because they don't have quite the talent as they have had the past few years. But they do have the potential to be good if they can play as a team, any team does. Hopefully if Evans is the coach he can accomplish this b/c I absolutely hate to see us lose.

You all are right on about that, if they can't get together and play as a team then there isn't much point in putting on the uniforms. Everyone on that field has to feel needed and appreciated by all to get it to come together. So I sure hope the new coach can pull them together and put that feeling back into Boyd.

Well thats very interesting that u r watching these practices because they do not exsist the only thing going on right now is conditioning and if coach evans is approaching things this way it is because he doesnt know he will be the head coach and he doesnt want to put the team together a certain way only to have it rearranged if someone else happens to get the job and from experience i know the boys will respect the coahces that respect them

Ithink ull be surprised at the talent they actually have and the reason for the lack of a "team" was due to certain distractions that are no longer there and have been taken care of and trust me the team is much closer and more of a true team than they have been in the past few years
