I've got nothing against Lemaster. I hope he does a great job with Ashland. My point is having a better resume doesn't necessarily make you the best candidate for the job.

The best way for Walters to improve his resume would be to apply and get a head coaching job elsewhere and prove what he can do wouldn't you think? If he has success then he becomes a strong candidate the next time the position is open.

I really don't believe Dwight has any desire of leaving Ashland. Dwight is at peace with the decision that was made, and is looking forward to life after sports, and spending more time with his family. Like I stated I have nothing against Lemaster, and I hope he does a great job. Dwight and I are very close, and I just wish he had been given a chance. I'm sure you, or anyone else would have felt the same way if it was one of their family. That's just the way it is.

I understand how you feel. However, I am not a guy who wears tinted glasses. I am even a little cold when it comes to those type things.

Basically because I feel like had Lemaster not applied the job would have went to Dwight this time around. With a few more years of coaching experience I feel like he would have been a lock for the hc job once Lemaster retires/leaves/whatever. That's just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

That's one of the downfalls of being a head assistant, if the coach gets the ax, you're chances of getting the job are slim to none. They tend to feel by staying within the program, that nothing much will change. Now, if the coach resigns or retires, then you have a good shot.

You would certainly know more about that than I, I'm not disputing that. But I also know blood is thicker than water and in instances like this it can show. I get that, I stick up for my friends and family too, almost to a fault. But not being personally involved, I understand why Lemaster was hired. 9 times out if 10, the guy with the best resume gets the job, no matter what the job it. That's just part of life. I do hate it for Dwight though, he bleeds maroon and white.

I understand what you are saying; I also understand that sometimes it's a, "What have you done for me lately" issue. I know you said that 9 times out of 10 the person with the best resume gets the job, however I've known numerous people who have had a better resume that where never hired because of the, "What can you do for me now" mentality. I think that this might have been the case. I've known Dwight for many years and have seen what he can do with players under his tutelage and how they seem to go the extra mile for him. I want only the best for him and his family. The new coach, with whom I've talked, seems ready to take on the challenge. I just hope that he (and those he brought with him) are here for the right reason and not for some other agenda. I wish him the best. Go Cats...

I think like most people, he thinks the silly part is anyone suggesting he should have gotten the job over LeMaster, and then trying to throw in that resume shouldn't matter. Haha! That's the silly part. I really don't mind that nonsense, but what I do hate is going beyond that by claiming a bunch of unfounded fabricated stories in am attempt to somehow tarnish LeMaster's reputation. None of it can be backed-up factually and I know for a fact it's false. Like I said before, I think the best thing is for everyone to jump on board before you lose the best thing that's ever happened to Ashland. By the way, I agree with the "what have you done for me lately," comment because apparently they have been under his coaching and have underachieved. Most assistants learn how to coach from the head coaches they're around and watch do the job. So I'm sure the administration was very aware of that, and knew the results would not change. I think the baseball community from Ashland should be thanking the administration for making the decision they made, especially if they care anything about winning.
