If somebody brought their dog in my yard and let it drop a deuce and not scoop it up they would be having a serious problem.

Ignore it, these situations only lead to greater problems. Shoot a guys dog with a BB gun and who knows what he might do.

I would except that his dog doesn't need to be in my yard when my dog is out in the yard. When that dog charges they have little if any control of him. I'll do what ever is prudent to protect my dog in my own yard.

Spoke with homeowner next door, it's his adult son's dog, and reminded him that this wasn't the first time we had had this conversation. I told him that it was very disrespectful for his brother to walk the dog in my yard to do his business. Home owner apologized and said he would talk to his brother about it again. I told him that if that dog attacked or tried to attack my dog again that I would shoot it, he said he understood and would take care of it.

 

We'll see.

If it were just the dog doing his business in your yard, I'd say you were way overreacting. It's just poop, and it's just a yard. However, it seems to be much more than that and safety is a very real concern in this case.

 

I would under no circumstances consider harming the dog. It's not the dog's fault, it's the owners fault.

 

Next time the dog and owner is in your yard and threatening, I'd simply call the cops and see if you can get them a trespassing citation or charge (not sure how trespassing is handled).

Well, they swear that it isn't. It's a Staffordshire Terrier I think they said, but it seems bigger that a Stafford would be.

Not sure I want my kids playing in the yard and ending up with dog crap on them?

I had an issue with my neighbors when we first moved into the house. My yard had grass theirs did not. Great dogs, but they both rudely let the dogs run anywhere they wanted. I spoke to them, no results. "We live in the country, dogs should be able to run where they want" My response was " We live in the country, we are allowed to hunt and if I see a wild dog in my yard it is fair game" That sort of put a perplexed look on their faces.

I would scoop up the poop and place it in their driveway, porch or fling it in their yards. It couldn't be me, I didn't own a dog!

I ended up training both dogs by voice command. The word "GET" became very valuable. As I mentioned both dogs were very good dogs and listened. One of the dogs even got to the point where all I had to do was raise my hand and it would walk behind the house. I never shot at them, hit them, nothing other than using verbal commands. But really why did I have to discipline the dogs, not them?

I think some dog owners can be very disrespectful. Barking dogs drive me crazy, dogs pooping in my yard, strike two. People that own pets think that everyone else is a pet lover too. Not so much. I like animals and others pets, but please respect others.

New guy moves in across the street, has 3 dogs. I was hoping for the best and got the best. Invisible fence and if the dogs make a peep while outside, they walk out to see what is going on and tell the dogs to stop. Great dog owners. They are also rescue dogs which is another feather in their cap.
