June 30, 201511 yr What can I do about this? Pretty sure I can't shoot it...JK don't get all worked up! Dog lives next door, the problem I have is the neighbor continually walking the dog in my yard to do his business. I've spoken to all three residents next door and all have said they understand I don't want that dog crapping in my yard. I also told them that if it attacked my dog I would shoot it, they said they only walk it on a leash. This morning I was about to let my dog out and there is the dog and one of the neighbors in my back yard and the dog was off leash. If speaking to the homeowner next door again doesn't work do, I have any other recourse in keeping that dog out of my yard? Some history on the dog- The dog in the past has attacked a dog being walked on a leash by a little girl, in the street. Has chased my dog once when it was off leash. Pulled neighbor into my yard trying to get to my dog once when it was on leash. Charged my truck so hard that it rammed head first into on of my tires, trying to bite my truck.
June 30, 201511 yr I had the same issue. After speaking the with dog owner, the city dog catcher, county dog catcher and the police to no avail, I told all that I would have to put it down if it was on my property again. I hate that I had to say it, but when a dog endangers the well being of my family, I have to do what is necessary. Thankfully, my neighbors finally kept the dog inside their fence. Their dog was far too aggresive to be out and about in a neighborhood.
June 30, 201511 yr Author Neighbors don't have a fence, they have a dog run with a cable between two trees. They rarely attach him too it, because they think he's of no danger. Yet he has ran off of his property to attack a dog, to try to attack a second dog and to attack a truck driving by.
June 30, 201511 yr Author Does your city not have leash laws, am assuming? I'm not sure...that would be a good thing to check on. Do most leash laws impact dogs in their own yards? Or just if they are out of it.
June 30, 201511 yr This might seem mean...but I had a friend with a similar problem. He bought a BB gun and every time he saw the dog in his yard, he discretely shot at it from a cracked window. Not something I would do personally, but it worked for him.

And if he is that much of a problem, and he came at my vehicle...well...things could happen...just sayin'

June 30, 201511 yr Author I'm pretty sure someone in the neighborhood may have pepper sprayed him...may have to get one of those Dog the Bounty Hunter Bear Mace dispensers that look like a fire extinguisher...that may break him. Honestly I put this more on the people than the dog.
