Pres Obama uses the "N" word on radio show.

Obama talks about racism and everybody is up in arms.

Obama doesn't talk about racism and everybody is up in arms.

Racism is born out of ignorance and fear. We have to be willing to talk openly about what we are afraid of and don't understand if we ever want to move forward.

What's truly amazing to me is how he used it and the context and people are STILL mad. :lol2:

I mean damn....I could understand if he was talking about chilling with his n-words or something but all this.......for that sentence? :lol2:

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH US???????? :lol2: :lol2:

Howard Stern has used it in the exact same context as Obama did since the beginning of his show. He seems to be doing fine.

But yeah, no one is stopping you. Fire away.

To be honest, I have no problem with him using it, or no problem with any other black guy using it. I did not see the context before I commented, but after seeing it it is obviously not being used in a derogatory manner in this case.

I actually already do say it to my black friends, but obviously never with the hard "r."

See....let folks know it can be done.

I think as a country, we have move forward in a big way. There is still racism in the US and EVERY OTHER country in the world and there always will be but I firmly and sincerely believe that the country has moved forward A LOT. The Al Sharptons of the world and many other in the media don't want us to believe that though because it is bad for business...

Social media disagrees with you.

I guess that is why I am not on it much...except BGP...wait, is this considered social media??

Kind of. Not in the same sense as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc but in a roundabout way BGP is similar to social media.

Social media can be pretty depressing sometimes.

Social media disagrees with you.

I disagree with social media then.

But hey, we read on it on the internet so it's the truth, right?

Bonjour!!!

Maybe someday on Facebook but not yet. Same for Twitter and Instagram...BGP is as close as I have ever got. I like that it is civil on here...usually.

Truth.

Twitter is is the best because you decide what you want to see. No matter how hard you try to edit your Facebook settings you'll always see something said on there that will set you off. Instagram isn't bad because it is mostly visual. I recommend Twitter to everyone. Love it.

I said it before (maybe this thread - can't remember): I think it's a myth that the country is significantly less racist than we were. It's just not overt. It's behind closed doors. It's in decisions made. It's amongst similar-thinking folks. Smile in your face and slap you on the back but behind your back....you're still lesser.

I think I saw a study on this subject. Let me see if I can still find it.

Just by the fact that older people are dying off and younger people are growing up tells me that we are much less racist as a country. When I was young if an inter-racial couple walked into a public place, they would get a lot of stares. Now it is to the point that most people don't even notice. Millenials are much less focused on race than people in their 70's and 80's. It was not that long ago in this country that blacks sat on the back of the bus, drank from a different water fountain, etc...

This is all stuff that just seems preposterous to almost everyone now. Is the country perfect? Of course not. In a country of 300 million people, there will be a lot of every kind of person, including racists. However, to say the country is not moving forward is just not right IMO. We do however, have an entire industry that wants racism to be alive and well (Sharpton and company and much of the media). Again, good for business...
