gold sunrise Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Basketball season for 2015/2016 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Augusta. Remember, please be constructive.
Randy Parker Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Augusta is primed to have a very good year, but there are two factors that will tell the tale for them: 1) Camryn Snapp's health...I've been told he is doing very well. If Snapp is at 100%, Augusta can make a run at all 3 titles they will compete for: Class A, 39th District, 10th Region. 2) New coach...the transition away from the Jason Hinson era is helped, IMO, by having an alum as his replacement. Brian Kirk isn't a rookie coach, plus he knows the Augusta community and kids. Still, he has big shoes to fill. Thankfully for him, he has a trio of seniors in Snapp, Crawford, & Maddox that compete at a very high level. Again, I believe those two things are the most critical issues the team will face. If Snapp is healthy & if the transition to Kirk is smooth, this is a top five-ish team in a 10th Region that will be down from past years.
lawildcat Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Off topic but if anyone from Augusta runs into George Clooney today, please tell him I forgive him for marrying that woman and I still love him.

BirdBrain Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Way to make it about you Cat....now back to the thread: Randy: you say they can make a run at all 3 titles, but then say they are a top 5'ish team in the 10th. Can you elaborate on that ?
Randy Parker Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Randy: you say they can make a run at all 3 titles, but then say they are a top 5'ish team in the 10th. Can you elaborate on that ? On paper, I don't see a clear-cut favorite to win the 10th. I've got Campbell slightly out in front, mostly because of Wilson, but I think there is a tremendous amount of parity this upcoming year--more than we've seen in previous years. I see 6 or 7 teams with a legitimate shot to win it. Some have a smaller margin of error, but still a legitimate shot. I think Augusta is one of those teams. Of course, this is all just June speculation. I could be way off, but that's how I see it right now.

AndOneDad Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I think Randy's analysis is correct and I hope both of the mitigating factors he cited go very well. These Seniors deserve to go out on a high note!
sumoroyal Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 The Seniors will get out on a high note. They have beaten Mason twice for district titles and won Class A Region. Only other thing left is the Tenth Region Title. Can they do it?:idunno:
BrooksvilleBear Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 This will be Augusta's last year to bring home some hardware.. Bracken/Augusta game will be one heck of an emotional game!
Marlon Brando Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 This will be Augusta's last year to bring home some hardware.. Bracken/Augusta game will be one heck of an emotional game! Why are they closing? Just because they are graduating several talented players may not mean that they won't bring some in down the road! It'll be the last year for anyone in the 39th to take a stab at Mason...what they've got coming up is scary.
Rick Grimes Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Why are they closing? Just because they are graduating several talented players may not mean that they won't bring some in down the road! It'll be the last year for anyone in the 39th to take a stab at Mason...what they've got coming up is scary. The talent level at Augusta over the last 5 years has been off the charts good. After these seniors graduate the talent level will drop off considerably. Not sure as to what they have coming up but they will have big shoes to fill. This run of talent is defintly the exception not the norm. Not to mention they had a two time 10th region COY at the helm. New coach in place this year, I think Kirk is a great coach but they may be some early growing pains in the first half of the season. This season is the last season for the forseeable future that the Panthers will contend for an all A region and/or district. I dont believe even with what they have coming back the contend for the Region crown in March. The 39th is going to be a dog fight this season so even getting out of that district is going to be a tall order. This is the first season in a long time that Augusta, Bracken, and Mason are so evenly matched. Any of the three could win the district. As of today none of the three will be a big threat to win the region. IMO Campbell, MoCo or maybe GRC will be the ones cutting down the nets in March. As far as it being the last season to challenge Mason Im not so sure about that eithier. Bracken will be a very good team over the next 2 years. And possibly contend for the Region in 2017. Just my opnion.
