Years ago, when the Catholic Church was under fire for this, a friend of mine made an interesting observation. If you have these sick desires, you are likely going to choose a profession that puts you in contact with children. Unfortunately, the Church covered it up for years. It hurt a lot of children and tarnished the priesthood, A lot of good priests suffered too.

Good for Twitter for reporting this and for the school for cooperating so fully. This kind of thing can and does happen anywhere. We all need to keep our eyes open.

I am glad my kids are raised. You can't tell the bad guys from the good guys, and they can be found in your own home on your own computer.

Ouch! One bad apple doesn't ruin the whole bunch. But not good! Not good at all!

Wasn't Dale Anderson also a coach at Trinity.

What on earth does some guy see in a 7th grade boy. Sick and disgusting is what he Is and only one cure for his sickness.

This is horrible for this young man and his family. I knew his Father, who was a prince of a guy. Luckily things appear to be caught in the early stages.

^ Yes he was. Words can not describe this situation and the resultant feelings and emotions it brings. For everyone's sake, lets hope this is delt with, corrected and all move forward as quickly as possible!!!

His sickness isn't just corrected, there is no cure for his sickness. He will always have the urge and eventually act upon it, which is what happened.

I'm sure he is only sorry now that he was caught.

You seem pretty sure about this, on what basis do you assert that there is no "cure" ? Or are you just so repulsed by the behavior that you can't possibly fathom that there could be a "cure" ?

Bingo. There is a big difference between being sorry and being sorry you were caught.

It's like this, it will always be in the back of his mind to think like that. Just as it's always in an alcoholics mind to drink. It's the urge they have. An alcoholic can't drink if he isn't around it, but it's on tv, ads, at ball games, in restaurants. All they can do is stay away but the urge is there.

This pedophiler now will always be around kids, they are at malls, in TV, in churches, everywhere. He will always have the desire to look at kids that way. No way he can avoid seeing kids.

My preacher hasn't smoked in 30 years but still says he is tempted and desires one everyday.

Same for those pedophiles. The urge is always there.

But the action is the crime, management of the urge is the "cure", just like all other addictions.

Just was watching the news and WDRB ran an update story on the Patrick Newman case. Newman is now facing charges of sexual abuse involving online and "other" contact with 16 total minors. The courts confirmed that none of the minors ever attended any of the schools where Newman has taught/coached.

His attorney was on record saying Newman intends to plead guilty on the charges in an attempt to get leniency in his sentencing. He faces a mandatory 15 years to life.
