Omaha Police Officer Killed

Featured Replies

It's a sad situation for her family.

This cop killing was not racial IMO, just some thug being a thug. I hope the cops finish him off so he can't go to prison and be in a gang and live as a hero there for killing a cop.

No doubt. Zero police issues around my way.

I think he died in the hospital as a result of his stupidity.

You're correct two people gone because one person couldn't handle the consequences of his actions.

I'm glad they got him. He got what he deserved.

Good question but I know uarmed blacks better do the speed limit, wear seatbelts and not look any white police officers in the eyes for a few weeks.

Just to be safe. Better safe than sorry.

A completely unwarranted reply.

A completely unwarranted reply.

So was yours to detract and deflect from the tragedy of the officer being murdered in the shootout. Not sure why your outlandish post is any more necessary than mine. An officer, wife and mother was murdered by a fool but yet you are worried about where the outrage, protesters and rioters are? That is an unwarranted and uncalled for reply as well.

I think for there to be widespread outrage or protests, there'd have to be a significant amount of people who sympathize with the person who killed a mother in cold blood. I doubt many people are cheering. I think it's safe to say that the vast majority think that this is a heinous crime and saddening.

If this were a case where the killer wasn't prosecuted for whatever reason, or got by with only a reduced charge, then maybe there'd likely be more avenue for that kind of thing.

I'm not exactly sure what people would be protesting here though. Maybe to use the event to raise awareness that this kind of thing happens too often (or more often than people want to realize)?, or maybe to say that all lives should matter equally? Ok, then maybe I'm buying it, but even then I'm not sure a protest is really the best means to an end of what you want to accomplish.

I can be pretty cynical and overly critical, but there's no way you'll hear me saying, "she deserved to die because she signed up for a dangerous job", or "what happened isn't really that tragic", anything like that.

Didn't most of the protests that you are referencing occur when the persons responsible for the death were not arrested? In this case the person that killed the victim was himself killed. I'm not sure where the injustice is in that situation. Isn't that what is usually being protested, perceived injustice? I'm not sure how much more we can kill the guy. Should we burn his corpse? If you want to complain about the lack of protest over a needless death I'd ask you this: Have you ever marched or protested the innocents killed in Chicago each week? How much do those deaths disturb you?

Sad that these threads turn out this way. It's heart breaking to think about how excited she probably was to spend time with her new born child, and this coward took that away. I shouldn't say it, but I hope he burns in hell.

So. Do you feel the same about the police officer that killed Akai Gurley in New York? Didn't he leave an infant behind? What did he do wrong?

It is sad these threads turn out this way. Instead of celebrating her life and service incendiary posts are made right off that bat that deflect from the true story.

To be fair, this thread was started with the intention to go down this path.

Really?

Without a doubt.

I feel it is a legitimate question.

A criminal that tries to take an officers weapon away then fights him is killed by the officer, in self defense and outrage, looting and rioting occur.

You post something flippant. Suggesting that the officers could target a certain race due to the murder of the officer.
