Or that she just missed being home with her premie? That's the worst part. She had just had a premie baby that was supposed to be released from the hospital that same day. Just stupid. All because some guy did a crime he couldn't handle facing time for.

Here's the thing, and I try to avoid these threads because of the venom, so I'll post this and bow out: I think that the general public will never have an outcry for officers because there is a perception that "they signed up for it". And I'm not saying that's wrong or right but it's just my opinion, but you're never gonna get the reaction you think you should from this deal. She approached a suspected shooter to serve him. I hate the outcome like anyone else, but I'd bet she knew the danger well before she approached. I hate it, I really do. I can't properly express my sorrow and empathy for everyone she leaves behind.

Better safe than sorry. If police officers responded half as vigilantly as what you suggest then it wouldn't matter if you're black, white, purple or poppa smurph. Fortunately for all of us their integrity is above all of that.
