Calipari says UK's top goal was to get players drafted, not win title

Featured Replies

Coach Cal's philosophy of trying to get as many guys to the NBA as possible has gotten us a National Championship and 4 Final Four. I think it's working.

UK fans that are bothered by these type of statements, really don't get it in my opinion.

There's not much that Calipari could say that BBN wouldn't praise. Let's not kid ourselves.

It was a cop out as to why he didn't win a title with that loaded team. Only those blinded by blue believe otherwise.

A cop out?

It falls in line with everything he's said since he got to Kentucky. It's all about his Player's First motto. Get the player to reach and achieve their dreams and other successes for the program and University will follow.

Many other coaches probably believe the same thing, they just don't publicized it, whereas Coach Cal doesn't really care how it comes off to anyone besides the next crop of recruits.

He's said it every year he's been at Kentucky.

Keep trying, you'll get it right one of these days.

And why wouldn't they? Could go back to the Billy G days I guess.

Wrong again. Dean and Roy have done a number on you haven't they?

That fact that some of you don't understand this is a recruiting pitching is mind boggling to me.

I hope he goes to the NBA and UK sucks for 10 years just to prove a point to you fools. I'd be fine with that.

As it should be, he's earned it.

Why are you guys even responding? Waste of time.

Nope, I don't recall any excuses being made when they failed to win a title when they should have.

The ignore button is your friend.

Roy is full of excuses. I'm sure you seen the article about him complaining about why is UNC the most invastigated university? Excuses excuses.

Just want to make sure I've got this right.

UK has been to 17 final fours total.

4 in the last 5 years, and 13 in the 110 years prior.

This is the first time in the history of the program that they have been to 4 final fours in such a short period of time.

Oh and they did win a championship.

Fire him???

Some of you need to just quit watching sports and take up knitting or basket weaving to take up your time. Because you're never ever going to be happy with sports.

And why wouldn't they? Could go back to the Billy G days I guess.

Don't even utter that, that was too painful to even think about again.
