mexitucky Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I find it fascinating when great pros played in high school with another great pro. The chances of becoming professional are sooooooo small that it is amazing when two kids grow up together and then make a living at a sport as an adult. It is even smaller that they both turn into superstars. I know of 3 that are pretty good. Any others? 1. Bill Russell and Frank Robinson 2. Alex Smith and Reggie Bush (both #1 picks overall) 3. Randy Moss and Jason Williams
75center Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Tom and Dick Van Arsdale. Both played over ten years and made a few all star teams each.

NEERFAN Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Reggie Lewis, Reggie Williams, Muggsy Bogues and David Wingate. Played together at Dunbar (Baltimore) High School. The Poets have three of the top teams ever from Baltimore. I recently googled them and ended up on a delisting the top 25 all time Baltimore squads. Did you ever see them play?
mcpapa Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 The Poets have three of the top teams ever from Baltimore. I recently googled them and ended up on a delisting the top 25 all time Baltimore squads. Did you ever see them play? I was already old when they were playing. Best performance I ever saw by a Dunbar Poet was in a televised game between Dunbar and DeMatha in 1973. DeMatha had Adrian Dantley, who was totally schooled by a guy named Skip Wise, Wise was a schoolyard legend who could light it up on anybody. Went on to become the first-ever freshman ACC first-teamer with Clemson, left after that year to go to the Baltimore team in the ABA, which promptly folded. Got involved with drugs and never made it as a professional. He was better than Williams, Williams, Bogues and Wingate put together. It seemed like it, anyway.
InItToWinIt Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Not high school team, but Dwight Howard and Josh Smith played AAU ball together.
Big Slick Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Was it Derek Bell and Gary Sheffield that played on the same Little League team? I believe they also had the shortstop from 88 Olympic team, I am thinking his name is Ty Griffin. They won the US championship and got drilled by Taipei.
mexitucky Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Tony LaRussa and Lou Pinella were on the same LL team together.
