May 21, 201511 yr Dave quit being funny years ago. He is a legend though and I will be tuned in. I love Jimmy Fallon, I think he's awesome. Sadly, I agree that Dave stopped being funny long ago. I watched him some in the early part of his CBS days and it syncs up decently well with what I've seen of his NBC days. But once he became more of an elder statesman and changed up his act (a natural age occurrence I guess), I stopped finding him funny and stopped watching. I, however, cannot disagree more about Fallon. I just don't think I'll ever take to his style. Hated Leno as well. If I watch late night at all right now, it's Conan.

May 22, 201511 yr I really like how Fallon interacts with his guests. They always seem like they love being there. And the games they do are awesome as well My feeling is that eventually people will tire of the nostalgia and games and then he will have little else to go on. I could not stand him on Saturday Night Live. I find his Tonight Show fare more palatable but the nostalgia and games right now are his crutches. If people tire of that, I don't know what is left for him.
May 23, 201511 yr I stopped watching Letterman 6 years ago when he got involved in the presidential race on his show. He was obviously an Obama supporter, and he couldn't hide it. And I didn't have a problem with that. Where I did have issues with his show was when he had republicans on his show and was rude and disrespectful to them but when he had democrats on his show, particularly Obama, he was all lovey dovey with his questions and jokes. Way too politically one-sided during the last two presidential races for my taste.
May 24, 201511 yr Two people that I know Dave would have loved to have had on his final show- Teri Garr and Warren Zevon. Teri used to be on his show seemed like every week. Dave had an immense crush on her.She has lived with MS for years and suffered a brain aneurysm back around 2006. And, of course, Warren was a musical idol of Dave's. As Warren himself said, Dave was the best friend his music ever had.
May 24, 201511 yr It seems like when Letterman came back after his health scare and bypass, he was different. It's got to be tough to keep it fresh and funny night after night.

May 24, 201511 yr If you weren't already aware, that's Letterman doing the "Hit Somebody!" part in the song. I'm sure there have been topics on here about HOF snubs and such but as someone who knows the music business more than I do, maybe you can explain why someone like Warren Zevon is passed over and acts like CHIC, Donna Summer and Public Enemy are in the Hall? Not to cast aspersions on those acts, (heck, I liked a couple of Donna Summer tunes in my day and I even got my freak on a couple times to CHIC ) but I would have people like Zevon and Chicago(especially early Chicago) in the Hall for sure.
May 24, 201511 yr Used to watch him religiously when he first started. Loved his ild show with Larry Bud Melman. Actually got to go to the show live when I was in New York and loved it. He did it the right way, it was time to step down when he did. The show lost some of its zest the last couple years when he started getting a bit more political and getting in trouble with his personal life. He he was a classic.

Melman was funny as was Chris Elliot. Lots of laughs from those two.
