What's special about Highlands playing Cooper?

Most of the games don't really matter because they are not district games. Whats the difference in Cooper playing Highlands or Cooper playing NCC as they did a couple years ago?

They are just games and no big meaning to them. Same as CCH playing Cincinnati St X. Nothing special about it.

Guess I'm referring to the crosstown showdown. Thought those were, or used to be, a KY v OH thing.

CCH v St X fits that bill.

So now it's basically selecting a few games around town and purchasing naming rights for the night?

No, there are so many games in this thing that usually takes place over a couple weeks that the number of teams that play in state teams far outnumber the teams that play teams from across the river.

Bingo, it's a money grab basically.

In most years that Cov Cath has participated in this event I would agree that it was no big deal and just a money maker for the organizer- ie: Cov Cath vs Dixie at one place or another the past two years. I can certainly understand the "meh" attitude surrounding games against fellow N Ky teams.

However, this year as Cov Cath is playing Cincy St. X at Nippert, I will say it's certainly a different vibe. Will be a great chance to play in a terrific environment against a perennial powerhouse.

Playing that game in the venue is the only thing that would be semi interesting for the players. As far as the game just like most games, not very interesting unless you think CCH can hang with St X. Overall the majority of the games for this event are nothing special and that is what I was commenting on. The overall Skyline money grab event.

I'm disappointed that Highlands and Cooper would cave to this bull. It's just another game at a high school venue. More money for Gamble I guess.

Every year we go through this. What do the AD's and football coaches see in the gimmick? A complete joke imo. I'm guessing pricing will be jacked for these games (at normal high school venues) as always!

Of course it's a money grab. That's why they are in business.

I have been a critic of the recent format of two NKY teams playing each other in NKY and charging more money for this "special event." Crazy.

However, you're kidding yourself if you think CCH kids do not think playing Cincy St X at Nippert is cool or a big deal. My son played X in 2003 at Nippert. Lost a close game. It was a big deal to those boys. It had a "special" feel to it.

The jacked up ticket price is exactly what happens. Instead of paying $ 6 for adults and $ 4 for students all tickets are $ 10. I believe that Cooper is the only party that has to agree to the terms here since the game is at their place. If game was at HHS I would suspect that it would not be included, but then again HHS has a new AD in town and he may feel it is good for business.

Kind of like playing in a state championship game. Sorry to all the Colonel faithful but I could not resist. Honestly, it will be a great experience for the kids, parents, coaches and program as a whole IMO. Hopefully they actually get to play it there and not run into some issue down the road with the construction.

As is why I said "Playing that game in the venue is the only thing that would be semi interesting for the players" Outside the players the game really has nothing special going for it. That was the point I was making. If it was ST X playing CCH at CCH's field, would it be that interesting of a game outside the players getting to say they played against St X?

Agree. But those games at the College venues are the only ones that will feel special to any of these teams. I would guess. Maybe my meaning of special is different from others. Apparently so.

I don't know how it works. Why is it only Cooper that has to agree to it? In the past I'm sure it was both teams, especially seeing how many of the games are played at a neutral site. I'm sure if Highlands didn't want to be a part of it they could have said so.
