The only vote that doesn't count is the one that isn't cast. That's my philosophy.

I must say that I'm a bit surprised. All of the money that Heiner into the campaign? All of the dark money and mud slinging? Last I heard Bevin was projected to be third.

 

I'm also surprised that Comer didn't win NKY with an NKY running mate.

 

Many republicans I know do not like Bevin. As Bluegrasscard stated, a couple of them told me that it's a wasted vote and that Conway has a very good chance vs Bevin.

 

To the republicans, will this some how shake up the Republican Party in Ky? Will this give more steam to the Tea Party in Ky?

I ended up voting for Heiner. I took the Bevin input as authentic and I know of people who I trust more than I do on gauging state politicians that are very anti-Conway (and they are Dems) so I wanted the strongest competitor.

 

Heiner had Scott Crobie as running mate and that seemed a reasonable ticket. And that is how I voted.

 

Never warmed up to Comer. Came off a little as a politically connected small town politician playing the the scripted 'conservative' themes.

 

Without the the input from over the weekend I probably would have gone with Bevin. He did stay above the fray mostly and did a positive message out.

 

It seems Heiner went negative and negative hard. That seems to be a bad thing in a primary. The first non-negative ad for him I saw was last night - after the polls closed. He probably needed more Bevin-like ads.

It was funny to watch the difference in Heiner's campaign for mayor of Louisville vs. this gubernatorial race. This campaign really rubbed me the wrong way.

 

Interesting note: a Conway v. Bevin race would result in the first Kentucky governor from Jefferson County since 1955.

Had I been able to vote in the Republican primary I would probably have voted for Comer.

 

As it is I voted for Conway's opponent in the Dem primary because I wanted to keep my streak of NEVER voting for Conway intact.

I voted for Will T. Scott. He came across to me as the most authentic, even though I probably had more differences of opinion with him than the other 3 candidates. Bevin was a close second for me.

Perhaps, but Comer will seek a recanvass first, which will take place May 28th. From there, I believe he said if there was a change in the results, he might seek a recount.

Really thought Heiner would do better. Probably doesn't look the part as much as the others and maybe doesn't pass the conservative purity test in the way some folks like these days.

 

Heiner did cruise in Jefferson County, getting over 50 percent to Bevin's 31 and Comer's 13.

 

Looking at the numbers, Heiner would've been completely crushed without his Louisville support. Over a third of all votes cast for him were cast in Jeff. Co.
