May 10, 201511 yr Should have been suspended for the SB or if the NFL had any nads the team should have forfeited the game before and never been in the SB. Anything now doesn't really matter. They got what they cheated for and that was a SB win. No other punishment is really a punishment.

You continue to show how much your hatred for the Pats and Brady are clouding your judgement on this. If they made them forfeit and kept them out of the Super Bowl you would be setting a very dangerous precedent.
May 10, 201511 yr 8... reduced to 6 or 4. I was thinking around the same. Probably 6 games and then reduced to 4.
May 10, 201511 yr I see 4-6 being the announced suspension and after appeal it goes down to 2-4. Personally, I think it should be 1 and that is purely due to not FULLY co-operating on the investigation and cover-up types of comments. If he would have come out right away openly stating he likes balls groomed a certain way, what he does is the same thing every QB in the NFL does, and he only asked for balls to be at their lowest legal inflation amount, then there may have been no suspension at all.
May 10, 201511 yr You guys really think he will get more or equal time to what Roethlisberger got? for footballs being deflated, that he did physically deflate?
May 10, 201511 yr Not sure if anyone brought this up but games could involve pre-season also. I don't think the NFLPA would be as adamant fighting a 1 or 2 preseason game ban. What the NFL does not want is any legal action by the NFLPA or by Brady himself since they cannot directly connect him to anything and there was no crime committed. And especially since NE opens with Steelers on national TV to start the season. If you think about it.......the NFL was comfortable letting each team supply their own balls even after the Tony Romo super-slick ball tryting to hold for a kick........the referee that was supposed to check the balls did not remember much about it because it is rather routine.......the NFL was supposedly "tipped off" but did not really bother to do anything until half-time and then botched that up by running out of time....... Heck if we had teams forfeit games every time a player corked a bat or a pitcher loaded up the ball ........we would have had a lot of forfeits throughout history.
May 10, 201511 yr Heck if we had teams forfeit games every time a player corked a bat or a pitcher loaded up the ball ........we would have had a lot of forfeits throughout history. They forfeit games in college and high school when teams are found to have done something against the rules all of the time...forfeiting games for corked bats wouldn't bother me one bit.
May 10, 201511 yr You guys really think he will get more or equal time to what Roethlisberger got? for footballs being deflated, that he did physically deflate? The Brady issue is actually more impactful to the league. It involves integrity of the game on the field. The Roethlisberger issue is one of personal integrity involving one player that happened off the field.
May 10, 201511 yr Really? Forfeited? You continue to show how much your hatred for the Pats and Brady are clouding your judgement on this. If they made them forfeit and kept them out of the Super Bowl you would be setting a very dangerous precedent. Here is what you and some others continue to gloss over. THEY CHEATED, and not only cheated but GOT CAUGHT CHEATING AGAIN. I could care less how insignificant you think it affected Brady's ability to play. That doesn't matter one bit. That is one thing NASCAR will always have over the NFL. In NASCAR if you get caught cheating they take points and if you won they take that away from you also. You cheat you pay the price period. As as far as precedent goes, who cares?! Maybe that is the precedent that needs to be set. Allowing teams and players to cheat knowing it will never affect the wins and losses especially later in the season or more importantly in the postseason knowing if they win and get caught they will still play in the next game. That sends a msg that everyone should cheat because nothing will happen to affect the post season of that year. I'd come down hard on any team caight cheating and I get so tired of hearing "they did better the 2nd half ". Who Cares!!!!!!!!??? If deflating the balls didn't make Brady feel he had an advantages then they would never have been deflated. Doesn't matter what the outcome of the game was. It sends a msg that cheating is no big deal. I garinteegaruntee you if none of this came out before the SB and Pats fans were asked they had a choice of the following. 1. Brady cheats by Instructing his lackeys to deflate footballs to his liking to below the legal amount and get caught but win the game and then win the SB and get suspended 4 games the next year. Or 2. Brady not cheat and the Pats lose in the playoffs against the Ravens the week before the AFCCG guess what hat they would choose? That is why cheating needs to be handled harshly. Set tje precedent. Make it hurt. Make it reach a lesson that cheating won't be tolerated period. How is is that actually a bad thing? It sends me right message to every team, every player and every kid growing up who idolizes professional players like Brady. Instead ad the league sends a msg it is ok to cheat and if you get caught, no biggie.
May 10, 201511 yr "Cheating" happens in every game in the NFL - silicone and vaseline on jerseys; stickum on hands and gloves; stepping on other players and similar actions; noise pumped into the stadium; lying about injuries; messing with sideline communications; and on and on. Balls being 11 psi are not much different IMO. No one feels it had much, if any, impact on the game. This outrage is just another example of today's media overhype in action. I will say it once again - Brady's worst offense in this whole thing is not being honest and transparent from the start and co-operating fully with the investigation.

When those things you listed are caught they are addressed correct? No one is putting stickum on gloves these days either, they are sticky enough on their own. But it is a level playing field as everyone can wear them. Lineman greasing them selves up have been fined and I think maybe even a couple suspended. If you cheat and get caught there has to be a penalty for it. Falcons need to get crushed for the noise thing BTW...and I think they will be. You are correct in that lying or being deceptive or uncooperative does make this even worse than it could have been.
May 10, 201511 yr ^ Agree JD ... Some penalty is warranted. I am hearing people calling for a half season and other such suspensions and they are way out of line.

You want them to forfeit you better be ready to make any team forfeit for any infraction. You have a player test positive for any banned substance you forfeit every game that year they played in. Salary cap infractions you lose every game that year. Crowd noise, the same.
