I didn't even notice that there were only 10 people on the list. I did, however, notice that Beetle wasn't included.

 

If the plan was to have him on the list & he was mistakenly left off of the list, add him. Problem solved.

The credibility argument goes both ways IMO. If the list has always been 10 kids then it should always stay at 10 kids.

 

The most credible list is the one with every kid who deserves to be on it there.

 

No one is going to Google 'Apologies to James "Beetle" Bolden' a few years from now and it show up in results.

 

Add it and go. Like @ColonelCrazy said, he didn't notice the list was only 10 names, and I wasn't counting either.

Instead of "the top ten", "the elite eleven".

Any list of the best loses credibility if one of the best is omitted. Make it eleven and move on.

If the list has always been 10, then take someone off and put him on as it should have been in the very beginning. If you have to, have 11 with an * to explain it. Leaving him off makes the list more uncredible than putting 11 on it in my opinion.

 

I would think you would rather have a credible list than to have one that everyone knows one of the best in the state and one of the best to ever play at Holmes was left off the list.

 

Look at it this way, the BGP Football list has ATH listed also, so why not have 11? It's not the end of the world. I would think if you all are so protective of your list and want it to be the best it can be then leaving off one of the best players in the state makes the list just another below average list.

On behalf of the BGP Basketball ranking crew I want to formally apologize to James Bolden. James Bolden is and was expected to be a member of the All BGP Boys Basketball team. James Bolden was considered a lock for the team and should be a part of the All BGP team. Somehow during the construction of the team his name was mistakenly shuffled off of the list and it was an oversight on our part. As one of the leaders of the rankings I take full responsibility for this oversight because it is inexcusable. We do value the integrity and credibility of our rankings so we will not be able to add James Bolden to the team because we do not want to take any of the deserving players that made the team off of the list nor do we want to start a precedent of adding players to the list after the fact. At the same time, we do feel the need to let James Bolden and our members know that we messed up and feel horribly for doing so. We never meant to leave James Bolden off of our list. I hope there aren't any hard feelings anywhere and we all wish James the best of luck at West Virginia.

 

We do apologize for our mistake. We are sorry for the oversight. We will do all that we can to be much better going forward.

Same as a 6th man that many lists have.

Not a big deal to Bolden, but the folks that do these rankings take great pride in their work and do an outstanding job. Found an omission and are trying to make it right.

It is a bigger deal because this list gets published in other places.

I've always held BGP lists as among the very best only because of the time and scrutiny they put into all their high school All BGP lists. It may not get national recognition but I'd put BGP lists up against all other lists when it comes to the best in the state anytime day or night. I for one have followed their Football lists for years as being the best of the best.

I'm in no way saying the BGP rankings don't mean anything to people, but I just think there are more important things in the world than a "ranking". Maybe somebody just pee'd in my Captain Crunch this morning? :walk:

In the big picture you are correct. Doesn't change James' world.

 

However, like all of us , he probably likes to be recognized for achievements.

 

Secondly, BGP has its reputation at stake as well. If you come out with a team and it's missing the best or 2nd best guard in the state then you risk your credibility.

 

So it may be a bigger deal to BGP than James.
