Agreed that he's a good scorer. Not knocking the kid but I don't see him being a high level D1 player. That's not an insult.

 

No one is claiming he's a high level D1 player. And no it doesn't matter what he did in high school...although as PP pointed out, he did do it this season.

I saw the kid at the Sweet 16 and I'm just being honest I was not impressed. Hard time going by faster defenders and was not the knock down shooter I expected. Bell was the better player on the team that week. If I had to guess, NKU told him he wasn't a part of their plans for the future and he should look elsewhere. If he was offered by Gtown, Campbellsville, or Cedarville, he better jump on it.

 

I won't knock the kid since I only saw him once and it was in the OH-KY All Star game, but I left with the same feeling after.

 

But... hard to overlook what he did for Boyle Co this year.

Scoring 40 doesn't make you a high level prospect anyway! I can guarantee you that Hagan Tyler can play D1 basketball. Mr. Basketball in Ky had 8 points in all-star game,Hagan had 4. I guess Cam Justice is not D1 material either. Hagan can play with any kid I seen play in the state this year,period!

I agree Wireman. I was mainly pointing this out to NKYBallboy.I feel you can't watch a kid couple games and blatantly post where it can be seen. How do you think it makes people feel that are close to him.. I know " I didn't mean it that way" but it sure looks that way!

I know what you meant. I've been watching Hagen during the season and the summers for more than 2 years now. He is very much a high D2 to mid D1 player.

Tyler and Jeremiah Bell have both added offers from Campbellsville University today...per a good source.

I'm sure he's a great kid and could score in HS. My point is I don't see a D1 athlete in him. He has a good touch but I think Campbellsville would be a better fit for him. That's not a bad thing! Also, it's a message board and peoples' opinions are going to differ.

Absolutely but when people hop on a message board and say things about someone that other people on the message board know personally then people better be able to have some facts when the people who know the whole story show up. Facts always overrule opinions in my world.

Ballboy you obviously don't know much about basketball. HAGEN made 1ST TEAM ALL,STATE for a reason. And you say you saw Boyle play at state tournament . So which game did he not impress you in? The first game where he scored 18 points and had 8 rebounds and 4 steals, the 2nd game against the #1 team in the state where he completely dominated the game and scored 32 points and 12 rebounds , or the 3rd where he had 12,5,5?? And played the whole tournament sick. You can't judge a player after only seeing them play once or twice.

There really is no shame in any of this for this kid. As I've said before naia is no joke. Getting a free education and getting to play early in your career is nothing but a

positive.

 

Find the best fit no matter what league you play in is the most important thing in this process.

Nky will try to jump start the program via juco transfers. Had they hired me that would have been my plan.

Do not believe any of these are better than NKU. It was stated earlier that the new coach wanted him, yet they are not an option? Call me confused.

I was thinking the same thing. I would think if he was going to decommit he would be choosing a bigger DI school, not a downgrade, but it's his decision not mine.

It's all about a players fit to the program he chooses. Some throw around D1 and D2 like its the only level out there. I womder how many have really been around Mid South Conference Basketball, if you have then you would see the amount of quote "D1" players there are in that league. There are coaches in the Mid South that could out coach a lot of guys we all watch on TV coaching "D1"and there have been years in the past that you could take the Mid South all conference team and win the OVC. I hope the young finds the school, the coach and the program that fits him the best regardless of the level and has a great amount of success because he's a heckulva player

There have been years that Georgetown and UPIKE would have finished near the top of the OVC. The Mid-South Conference is no joke.
