Not sure I would have included Lawrence Co. in that list. They have struggled since 2001 as compared to the good teams they had in the 90's. They have not made it to the playoffs at least twice in that 5 year span. They were solid in 2000 and 2001, but have fallen off a little since then.

Out West

1. Mayfield, 65-21 this decade with 1 State Title, 1 Runner Up & made it to final 4 every year but the state title and runner up years. Play an amazing schedule for a small school & does so with a great deal of success

On the outside looking into the West I would have to almost put Hoptown at #2. What would they have accomplished if Boyle had not been in the way? 2001 and 2002 they lost great contests to the Rebels and appeared to be the 2nd best team in AAA. In 2003 they took a very talented PT team to the wire in the AAA Regional Finals. 2004 Pulley led them back to their 3rd Semi-Final out of 4 years. I know Catholic made 2 Finals in AA but Hoptown seems to have been in the thick of it all in the last 5 years.

Out West

The only reason I put them ahead of mayfield was how they seem to win the big games against teams that were have more heavy reaguarded such as Fort. Campbell and Trigg County. Fort Campbell has had about 4 to 5 guys go D.1 and Trigg has had several also. Mayfiedl does play a super schedule and gets better as the year goes on. Nobody in their district or region can match-up or pull the upset year.

 

It has been very impressive to see Cathloic make this run with less talent and they deserve alot of credit.

I cant dispute your claim and after listening to your argument tend to agree but on the other hand the spin can go a number of ways depending upon how much weight you give to what. I still say Mayfield is a safe #1 based upon having the most wins and titles. I revise my #2 to a tie between OC & Hoptown.

Amen! They have been impressive and should they drop they might try and create a road block in the Mayfield to Danville Turnpike, which had its first detour this year in many years

Belfry, Russell, Rockcastle County are three that come to mind right off hand.

I guess you guys are ranking these teams based on how they have finished with in their own classification. Of the West teams, I've really only seen Owensboro Catholic or Henderson within the last 5 years, but if you are ranking these teams against each other, I have to think that Henderson would easily beat Owensboro Catholic almost any of those years.
