X let it get away from them late.

No upsets tonight and this was one I wanted.

Great showing, but X just couldn't score down the stretch. Takes a near perfect game to knock off the elite teams. X just didn't have enough to finish...

I remember looking at the clock with about 4 minutes and change left and thinking to myself, "this is usually the time when underdogs start to fall apart."

Hell of effort.

Just couldn't sustain it for the final 6 minutes. Really thought they just might do it.

I've dogged him hard on here, but Stainbrook played outstanding, not just last night, but all tournament long. Same with Dee Davis.

I just love Matt Stainbrook's game. I will miss watching him play.

X hit just 1-for-9 FGs the final 9 minutes after Dee Davis' layup put them up 4.

So, anybody catch Reggie Miller having a "McCarver Moment" about 6 or 7 minutes into the game where he credited Stainbrook for his ability to use his "off hand" following a lefty drive from the post for 2?

This, of course, after Stainbrook had already lofted up a three and hit a hook and a couple other inside shots, and made some laser "off hand" passes with his left. Watch some freakin' film, Reggie. :ohbrother:

I love them having guys like Reggie, CWebb, Barkley, and Kenny Smith on these games. They don't follow the teams throughout the year so yeah, they mess up stuff like that, but they know the game and offer good insight IMO.

Fair enough. But what the hell was he doing the first 6-7 minutes of the game? Was he not watching what Stainbrook did leading up to that point? Or did he just think, "man, this guy uses his left an awful lot."

Xavier had one hell of an effort; would have really liked seeing them win.

Webber was terrible and Len Elmore wasn't much better
