...$200.00. Not a huge gift by any means but neat to think that he was thinking of his players.

It arrived with a letter from his estate manager that Coach Smith wanted every one of his former players to enjoy a meal on him.

Pretty cool act. At least now I know Michael Jordan can get a meal. Seriously, that's really awesome.

Wow. How many players did he coach?

Very cool.

A LOT. Coach Smith, showing class even from the grave. How cool.

Darren Rovell tweeted that the approximate amount would be $36,000. Puts him at 160 players.

That is awesome. I know those sharing this gift are proud of their late coach, but I am sure Dean Smith would have been content on this information never being made public.

I wonder if there is a significance for $200?

I read something about how Smith wanted his players to have a good meal on his dime.

AHA!!! All I had to do was READ the first post of this thread again and my question was answered. I was never one to pay attention well, always in the doghouse. I'm a moron.

Pretty Cool....but

Is this an improper benefit?

Would it be if it is for "former players"?

I was joking but I think there is a limit on what even former players can get... I'm sure this is fine though.

Sorry, didn't pick up on that.

Cal will leave 250 and all wins will be vacated!

Back to the topic.

Great gesture on his part. That's a really neat thing to do.
