Holy Cross 49 Highlands 32 (9th Region 1st Round)

It's tough to match teams YOY. Were either of those teams ranked anywhere near the top ten for the majority of the year? ND had an outstanding run two years ago and they were very good. So maybe not that year. But HHS beat NCC last year, so they weren't that far ahead of everyone. Again, it's very difficult to match year to year. It's this team or this player was better because blah blah blah...You can't compare when they don't play head to head. Those teams you mentioned were good, but so are these three. Those teams barely were ranked in the top 25 most of the year when they played. It's just my opinion that these 3 teams THIS YEAR are better than most that have won it in the past. ND that year may be the exception. They were very good and underrated in the state that year.

You yourself said that rankings mean nothing and the teams you named this year as having down years like Sacred Heart which was ranked this year, just maybe the state is down this year. HHS did beat NCC last year but Brossart beat HC are they not that far off? You said yourself Michaela Ware maybe the best player in the region this year well she was on the team who won the region lst year with the a girl (Kiernan) was player of the year. I agree you can't go YOY but your statement said walk through the region that tells me they would not have been comopetition which is way off. NCC lost to the state champion last year by 4 in the first round after that Butler beat everyone else by 10 or more so are they that close? Your evaluations a lot of times are very good but this is way way off and i don't put a lot of stock in the regular season and all year you have in my opinion, if getting 20 wins playiing a decent schedule is what you are looking for then thats good but i believe HHS has bigger goals than that. Beef up that schedule next year take some lumps and be ready for post season, no beign a jerk just giving you my opinion.

Rcc9 you never cease to amaze me! Always the little underhanded and slight remarks that force me away from this site from time to time. A lot of little comments regarding Holly Cross "assembled" team among other passive aggressive statements. Now I read SK is down. Well I'll take a 27-4 down season every year. I'm glad you have them in such high regard. My understanding is you haven't seen them play.

The 8th region is not nearly as down as you hoped they were. Yes highlands trounced sk when we went thru a very rough period. To be honest I don't think you win if we played with both teams healthy. We hadn't practices (yes very important especially when you are as young as we are ) in weeks. No shooting nothing in the gym. We had injuries and sickness'. Our coach made the prudent decision to basically play our 2nd team jv to get varsity experience without risking anything on our team. 3 of our 4 losses came during the stretch we were hurting But oh using see that or recognize something like that because your blinders are wayyyyy to big

Yup. I'll take 27-4. Sweet 16 trip with 2 srs 2 sophomores and 4 freshmen carrying the majority of the load. If that's down by your standards

Last comment. All year I heard that highlands has a very nice team. Let their playing do your talking. Good teams don't need the banter

Not interested in your response so don't bother. I have a feeling I will know what it will say so I'm moving on. Just another thread that I hate I read

First I didn't read a word you said because I knew when I was writing it that one of the 2 percenters were going to get their feelings hurt. You really had to write all that just beacause I said SK was down a little this year. Well they are compared to the last couple years. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings. It's always the same with the 2% of SK fans. Poor us. And excuse after excuse. It was not intended as a shot at all. Get over it!

Okay I did go back and glance thru it cause curiosity got the best of me. You do realize it was senior night for the Birds as well and not one starter, other than the two senior starters logged even a half game worth of minutes and the two seniors that see limited action started and played a good portion of the game. So yes, you were missing one starter. But our subs were in a lot and all went in when SK subbed. So I'm not seeing your point. You had plenty of starters and you bench. How did the rest of the starters do against HHS. I know how yours did. We can go back and forth all day. But the original comment was not to upset anyone but you couldn't help it could you.

Start a new thread - SK vs HHS....This was a final score thread. lol

Not denying the schedule at all. I wish some of the teams weren't down and were tought too! But last year's NCC team was good but nowhere near the ND team the year before. Ware is the best player this year (IMO) and I don't even think it's close. And Kiernan was last year. That's not enough in my opinion to be considered dominant. Brossart beat HC with 2 of their 6 full time players out. And it happened to be Ally Mayhaus and Mclendon. Take Kiernan and ware off last year's teams and how many games do they win? In fact, take Kiernan off the team and how many do they win? Listen, all I'm saying that this year's 3 teams walk thru the region in most years. It's a shame they are all this good in the same year. Only one advances. Everyone seems to find one or two sentences in my "paragraphs" and drill me for how I worded them. Open up and understand the message, not the individual sentences. It all goes together. Some on here are like reporters that print exererps of what some said and then peice them together to tear them down. It the message...not the word for word individual sentences. When I write on here I know I'm gonna upset someone. It's inevitable whenever someone speaks their opinion and tells it how they see it. Someone from some fan base just isn't gonna like it!

And I'm pretty sure I praise NCC all the time on here. That's from a Bluebird fan!

Not saying you don't praise NCC just like I praise HHS, you make it sound like these BIG 3 are unbeatable, a little to much credit if you ask me. HC and Holmes played a very good schedule out side of the region i would say HHS needs to do that next season to be ready for regionals. The team that should have won the region did this year period and the 2 that ended up in the finals is the way it should have been, they were the 2 best teams, hard to argue that.

I could care less about the Highlands Holmes debate. Neither team was going to beat HC, if HC played well, and they played well in the regional tourney. IMO Highlands had a better chance than Holmes because typically Highlands shoots the ball well from the outside and that gives you a punchers chance. I have looked at both HHS schedules. I can't say Highlands or Holmes schedule was above average about 2/3 of their schedules are the same. Holy Cross had a nice challaging schedule. Good luck to HC. They had zero regional losses not sure why there is a debate about who's second. I'm sure the Highlalnds folks will say if they were on the other side they could have been runner up as well. HC played great let's all wish them well.

I agree HC's schedule was better than both HHS and Holmes. But Holmes wasn't much better, if at all than HHS. Just because you travel, it doesn't mean those teams are good. HHS played 4 teams that either won or were runner up in their region. And I already said, many of the teams you would count as good programs happened to be down. I'm agreeing with you in hindsight, it appears they should have beefed up the schedule. But if most of those teams have typical years, it's a pretty good schedule. Just didn't work out that way this year. Brossart is another solid program that I would add to being down.

okay

okay

I almost fell out of my seat, you agreed with me. LOL

Just messing with you.

We usually agree on a lot more. Just a few that I'm bull-headed on...we don't.

HHS really needs to beef up their schedule next year, play in bigger tournaments to be prepared in my opinion, get away from playing the local schools. I believe it will helpt them a lot because they will be in the thick of it next season for sure.

The bold is interesting.

HHS played 7 non-local schools

HC played 13, however only 9 if you take away the All A that HHS is not eligible for.

Holmes played 12, But I wouldn't say that about 3-4 of those teams helped prepare them in anyway. In fact, they would have been much better off playing local teams! So essentially they played 8. Settle down Bulldogs, it's not a shot.

So was HHS really that far off base by only playing 7?

You have to have money to travel and not much is allocated by the school. This thread has gotten more activity days after the games than it did when the result was fresh in everyones mind.
