Holy Cross 49 Highlands 32 (9th Region 1st Round)

Do you really want to ask what else they are relevant in? Maybe instead of getting on here like your little buddy and talking smack, maybe you should just talk about the game and not all of the other nonsense. This stuff just gets older and older by the day. Maybe I will add you to my list as well, so that I do not have to read about it. You would think the way some posters act on here that it is a bunch of kids talking, but believe it or not, it is supposed adults talking about KIDS and high school one's at that.

Enjoy the victory and act like you have been there before or does it make people feel better to get on here and bash the other team or their supporters? Sure everyone wants to win, but at the end of it all, there is only one winner left standing.

I agree with Jack...why did this thread turn into this? I was hoping in the midst of these 4 pages of back-and-forths, someone would be able to post the stats from the game and the scoring..for those who couldn't make it? Who had an outstanding game from both teams? I've seen both teams play a few times this year and I respect RCC's evaluation of the games and the other teams (i think he is spot on most of the times). These two teams have a ton of talent...i was very surprised by the score. Big court...girls get tired?

I argue for HC when they aren't given the credit deserved I've given HHS both of them there credit that they are very good but when HC beats both teams twice and you still want to argue they are all even is comical. As for the scoring argument go back and read the comments my exact argument was Leigh and Adler are there top scores and you posted stats proving that but tried arguing they aren't? Highlands is very good when they get out and run and play there game but when they are held back from doing so it hurts them a lot there starting 5 in my opinion is another big scoring threat away from being dominant but this year it's HC year in the 9th. That being said Holmes will not be a gimme game tonight it's gonna be a war can't wait to see this one!

Do you really want to do this again???

Your comment..."Adler and Leigh are the only two offensive contributors night in and night out". Again, the stats proved you are incorrect. Incorrect statement number two..."Leigh and Adler are there top scores and you posted stats proving that" So again, wrong. Adler and Graves are our top two scorers on the year.

But here's what I posted so you can look at it again. Do those averages tell you balanced scoring or two dominate players carried them night in and night out?? Hmmmm? Again, stats tell the story...not your perception. Did Leigh and Adler carry us in the HC games, absolutely! That's 2 games out of 34. Did they carry us in other games too...yes, but so did all of the top 6 all year.

HHS points per game:

Adler - 11ppg

Graves - 10ppg

Leigh - 10ppg

Comb - 9ppg

Barth - 9ppg

Coffey - 7ppg

He loves it! We talk about you all the time! Not in an iconic fashion though! Lol!

Btw..if you can show me where I ever put HHS above any of the big three, I'll buy you an ice cream cone. HHS is very good and I have held their flag like others have held their team's flag. It's a discussion board. It's what we do on here. HHS picked a bad night to play really bad. It happens. I have said this to a ton of people. If you play bad against any of the big three, you are going to get whipped. HC has been able to keep the consistent high level in the big games so far. That's why that have won them.

I guess I better apologize to RCC9 he is all upset with me over something I never said. I apologize RCC9.

Congrats to HC! I was not in attendance but I expect the birds to bounce back next year. From the way it sounds HHS did not have a great game, but I sure enjoyed watching them from the stands when I had an opportunity. They had a great season! There is only one winner. Good luck to the seniors and like I told the boys work in the offseason! I expect big things next year!

And show me where I argued they were equal after this game...don't waste your time...you won't find it! You just like to twist my words into what you want to hear...not what I say.

Another thread that took a wrong turn.....:isurrender:

For the love of God, can we just talk about THIS game and none of the other bull:poop:!

Maybe this thread needs to be deleted like others on BGP that get out of control. Away from any point about what the thread was intended in the first place. If you don't back it up with stats, information that is relevant, then these threads get just as bad as those commercials you see about the real housewives.:ohbrother: Right LB13? As much as I would have liked to see the Highland HS girls win, it is what it is, your either on, or your not.......Congrats to HC, great win against both HHS schools. Good luck at state, well played, well deserved.

Another thing that bothered me that was not totally relevant to the game, was the lack of student body fan support at the game. A small school like Holy Cross had a pretty nice cheering section and Highlands had none. In fact, the band showed up for game one, but was a no show for game two on Saturday.

Perhaps I am old school, but for a school that puts itself out there as one of the best in the Commonwealth, the student support from top to bottom is downright weak. Administration should be encouraging the kids to get out there and support one another rather than sitting home playing X-box or playing on their new I-phone.

Bottom line is that HC was the best team all year and HC wasn't just better on that night they are just a better team than HHS period. I think HHS has a very nice team but some of the players that they have have been playing since 7th and 8th grade and have not improved their game as much as i thought they should. Playing varsity all those years like they have you shouldn't have that many unforced errors. I think Adler is a great shooter when she is left open I would have set screen after screen for her but I also believe after playeing as much basktball as she has that she would have learned to create her own shot, create space. I am not putting her down she is a great young lady and a good palyer. I guess playing all those years I would have thought she would have progressed more and she isn't the only one. In my opinion when play at a young age like that you don't improve much because because in a young girls mind there isn't much more you have to do because you made it to varsity already. Jamie Walz Ritchy was rare when she did it. Just my opinion. But you have to give HC credit their defensese was very good.

Both of the girls you are talking about do EXACTLY what the coaching staff asks of them. They can do more, however, they are asked to play within a system and the system is why the team is good. Why aren't all the McDonald's all-americans on UK leading the country in scoring and "doing more" as you put it. Do they not have the ability? It's because they play for each other and do the things they are told. That's what HHS' advantage is over other teams. Selfless and balanced play. There was a reason for the unforced errors the other night. You can ask the players if you'd like.

And are you saying that all the unforced turnovers came from the two that played early in their career? Because that's not the case. And guess what, almost all of those unforced turnovers were because teammates were not in the right spot and doing what they were supposed to do. So who is credited with the TO, you're right...the guard. But in reality, if you know what they are doing, it was an much unexpected cut or someone not getting to a spot they are supposed be that led to what you saw the other night. Again, ask the players. Or the coaches if you'd like. It was one game and all of a sudden you want to "cap" on a couple players. There were a lot of reasons they didn't play well the other night.

Why do you take offense to what I said, I am not putting the other players down. Every team has a system but sometimes you change the system when the game isn't going your way. I thought Adler being your best shooter needed screens a lot more but all that happened was is she stood out on the wing they got a hand in her face she tried to create but couldn't. All i am saying is i thought that is the part of her game that would have gotten better. I said she is a very good player and a great young lady and want to see her get better. I guess part of me is saying if you play varsity all those years i was expecting more.

Your going to make the comparison to UK Dear Lord, the reason those guys are at UK is becasue the can do all those things. HHS has that much advnatage over the other teams they all play as a team HC showed that and the reason for the bad TO and bad shooting was bc of HC. Highlands has a nice team don't get me wrong but a the end of the day HC just wasn't the best team that day they have been the best team all year.

Forget it. Believe what you want. Don't have time to explain. It's softball season!

Highlands looked lost and confused for most of the game! The Holy Cross match up zone is very tough to score against! Maybe if some early shots would have fell Highlands could have gained some confidence and made a better game of it! I think Highlands could have done a better job of screening that zone! Still they got some nice looks, just had a rough night putting the ball in the hoop!Holy Cross has a very nice team and I wish them nothing but the best down in Bowling Green!

If you say so, again when your SYSTEM is not working you need to change it that's what coaches do during the game. The game was out of hand so change it up. I know its softball season but that doesn't mean you can't comment. Oh well excuses excuses.

HHS has a good team just HC was better than everyone else in the 9th, with Holmes 2nd and then HHS that is the big 3 as everyone called it.

Good Luck this season and I do like your post you make great points.

Okay, you got me back. Game was out of hand?? HC had 25 points after three qtrs. When we got out to pressure them and starting fouling and putting their worst free throw shooter at the line (who shot them very well on that night btw), that's when it got out of hand. We started fouling intentionally half way through the fourth qtr. She made her free throws which caused more desperation on the HHS and that's how it got out of hand. 3 point game at half.

I agree HHS could have done more and there is a reason they looked like they did. Part was Holy Cross and part wasn't. Period. They didn't look like that in 33 other games they played and HC did nothing different from the first time. This teams does not make completely unforced turnovers...its the strength of the team. For the first half of the season, they averaged 4 TO's per game! Then as the season went on, they did jump to 9, which is still pretty darn good. They had 17 against HC and half of those came with little to know pressure at all. It wasn't the pressure of the big game either. They've all played in the region for years. The unforced TO's had nothing to do with HC. These aren't excuses it's reality. So you have enough to figure out what the issue was. I'm not telling you on here. Everyone in the gym (hhs fan or not) knew that wasn't the HHS team that played all year. Sitting on the Holmes side, as they came in, I got many questions on "What was going on? That's not how HHS plays!". So say I'm coming up with excuses all you want, but what HHS did had just as much to do with the outcome as what HC did.

Please don't twist my words. HC is very good and I said all year, if you don't play well against one of the big 3, you will get whipped. HHS decided not to play well on that night and they got whipped. And you can believe all you want about it being HC that did it to them, that's not entirely true. If you actually know me personally, I am the furthest thing from an "excuse guy" you'd ever meet.
