February 27, 201511 yr I was told that the new school was going to be only for academically advanced students in the county. I'm not thinking that's how they'll do it, though. Also, someone mentioned the new name being Wendell Ford High. If I'm not mistaken he was born and lived in western Kentucky, maybe Owensboro. He wouldn't have anymore ties to Scott County than he would any other county in the state, other than Daviess County.
February 27, 201511 yr Author Was Georgetown a seperate school system or were they part of the county school system? Until 1975 it was a separate school system. In 1975 the high schools and the different school districts consolidated. Most all agreed that a new high school is needed in the near future. Arguments from community and coach's center around the phasing in process and lack of adequate athletic facilities in phase 1. Looks like it's going to be a separate but unequal problem. The current high school doesn't even have (better word would be own) a field that can host varsity games!

February 27, 201511 yr Correct Garth was one of the many Grade Schools in SC. When all the Grade Schools consolidated Oxford, Sadieville, Great Crossing, Ed Davis, Garth, etc, two high schools were built, some kids went to SCHS and some kids went to GHS. Most of Garth's kids were districted to Georgetown High School. The former Garth High School is the current Garth Elementary School. The former Georgetown High School is the Current Georgetown Middle School. Was there a black high school in Georgetown during the segregation era?
