February 27, 201511 yr Much ado about nothing. Dallas and the NFL knew about all of this when it happened in 2011. Too late now for anyone to care about any video. Pay the man and let's move on. Better hope there isn't a video that the NFL knew about or it could be the final nail in Goodell's coffin.
February 27, 201511 yr I am surprised in this day and age that people have been talking about this video FOREVER and yet we aren't seeing it yet on TMZ or somewhere else. What is the hold up???
February 27, 201511 yr And for those that do not know, there was an incident and the police were called. The police did not pursue the matter beyond interrogating Bryant and the supposed victim at the scene. So no charges were ever levied. I can't say it was much ado about nothing, but the police treated it as such at the time.
February 27, 201511 yr Now hindsight is 20/20, and if there is a video the NFL saw at the time (assuming it was something egregious he did), the next video you will see is Goodell exiting the building Billy Gillespie style. But go back 4 years to this incident. The NFL office gets a call a couple days later about an incident where police were called to Wal-Mart to investigate a disturbance involving Dez Bryant. According to the report nothing of significance occurred to press charges. Was the NFL supposed to open up its own investigation in to the matter based upon something the police are not even looking in to? You have to take away the Ray Rice stuff and go back 4 years.
February 27, 201511 yr IF the video is from 2011, it's got no real legs, doesn't matter if the pope saw it. As much as I dislike Goodell, it won't cause him any issues.

According to reports cops were called to Bryant's house 5 times in 2011 and he has never been charged with anything. I can't help but think the Cowboys or Bryant's old agent are linked to these reports being brought back to public light 4 years later during contract negotiations with Bryant and his new agent.

I disagree, all that has to happen to give it legs is for the media to throw the investigating officer under the bus by taking the position he gave Bryant preferential treatment. Or, given the current climate of the NFL all it may take is a "bad" video.

While I disagree with you on this one, I hope if a video is out there that I am wrong. I'd love to see Goodell harangued by the owners on this one.

If there is a video out there I think it will all come down to how bad it is and possibly what any of the other involved parties add about the bad video.

We will still continue to hold our players to a high standard, yada, yada.

Sounds like Dallas is trying to low ball him on his contract. Funny how nothing has been said about a video during the years before now. Now that's it's time for a new contract it starts leaking out.

Now that's it's time for a new contract it starts leaking out. It's a tough position for the Cowboys to be in. If you sign him to a huge contract and the video comes out, he's suspended with pay like AP until investigation closes. If you franchise tag him, Dez makes half of what he would with a regular contract and he's angry. No one wants angry Dez. That would ruin an entire season.

We will still continue to hold our players to a high standard, yada, yada. New evidence is new evidence and the NFL will have to fully investigate it and if it is really bad there will be HUGE public outcry. This really becomes more a question for our BGP lawyers based on statues of limitation, changing policies in the NFL, rules of evidence, common sense, etc.

I'm willing to bet if there is a video the Cowboys and the NFL have already seen it. I just find it comical that almost 4 years later a video is surfacing. It's hard for me to believe this isn't intentional.
