Walt Allen named Mr. Basketball

Featured Replies

Add Matt Walls to the list as well. And the kid from Warren Central as well. I thought Pettigrew was the best player I saw last year. However it was only for one game.

Yep, Walls should be on that list, no doubt. Can't believe we failed to mention him!!! :thumb:

Case and point this year, the best basketball player doesn't always win the award.

I guess these kind of comments will never stop!! Get over it.... Walt may not be the best "basketball" player, but he has the hardware to prove he is the best "highschool basketball" player, emphasis on HIGHSCHOOL. Mr. Basketball is a HIGHSCHOOL award! Walt won it. End of story!

I find it funny how many ppl on these boards think they know soooo much more.... yet this kid has 2 POY awards and a Mr. Basketball award. I guess whoever votes for these awards must be complete basketball idiots.

Congrats Walt! Not a more deserving candidate! :thumb:

Hopefully he won't have the 'Elton Scott' label attached 5-10 years down the road.

Jordan isn't going anywhere. Just wishful thinking from a school and its followers.

Not so fast my friend :sssh:

Steffphon Pettigrew from Elizabethtown, Duran Jefferson of Holmes, Rodney Haddix of Scott Co., and Thomas Coleman of J-town quickly come to mind.

Pettigrew and Haddix are the two I see in contention with Proffitt.

Thats a name I havent heard in a while. Whatever happened to him?

Exactly

Exactly

I'm being serious.

I think Scott got content with his abilities and didnt work hard though. Walt's attitude is far from that. Walt will never be a great player on the D1 level, but he will work for everything he gets.

Who are you referring to?

I think you may be wrong about who is doing the wishful thinking and the talking.

Went to Sullivan JC in Louisville and transferred to West Virginia. Was playing in the ABPL (?) in 2003 and played in the Kentucky Basketball Academy summer league in 2003 also. He also played in the National Alliance Basketball League that was formed by six AAU mens' teams.

Elton Scott rode the coattails of Marion County's state championship team in his junior year. Greg Buckner of University Heights was probably the state's best player that year, but probably had little or no chance to win the award because of where he played.

Get over it yourself ... he's entitled to his opinion.

Just because it's the minority opinion doesn't mean he's wrong.
