February 10, 201511 yr Great coach but the most interesting aspect of his life was his belief in equality in a time and place where that was an unpopular stance.
February 10, 201511 yr Guy just passed away and all you can do is try to tear him down and minimalize his accomplishments. Shows a complete lack of respect and a ton of immaturity. You put that way nicer than I would have.
February 10, 201511 yr Great coach but the most interesting aspect of his life was his belief in equality in a time and place where that was an unpopular stance. Also spoke out frequently against the death penalty and even nuclear proliferation. Wasn't afraid to use the microphone provided to him to speak out and work to change things he thought were unjust.
February 10, 201511 yr 1 title with his players. You are referring to Roy Wiliams. He inherited May, McCants and Felton after their Freshman year. He helped them win a title two years later. What was he supposed to do - kick all of the players off the team when he took the job and start over? Come on - Roy Williams is also a great coach. But, this thread is about Coach Smith - Roy Williams is just another example of his incredible legacy.

February 21, 201511 yr I remember when Texas ran out of the wishbone in honor of Darrell Royal when he passed. I hated the Four Corners but it was a great gesture.
February 22, 201511 yr Roy was pretty steamed at the UNC fans after the game. Not sure why - it's always been somewhat country clubbish at the Dean Dome. I'm sure he has his reasons. The four corners and throw back unis were awesome!
