Dean Smith dies at age of 83

Featured Replies

Roy was pretty steamed at the UNC fans after the game. Not sure why - it's always been somewhat country clubbish at the Dean Dome. I'm sure he has his reasons. The four corners and throw back unis were awesome!

I've been to Chapel Hill numerous times. 2009 watched them vs BC and the place was insanely loud. Watched them play William and Mary and App State and each game was rocking. Not sure why there has been an issue. It's a wonderful environment and beautiful arena. Roy must have thought that with the passing of the Dean, and all the ways they were honoring him, the place should have been more enthused I would assume. But either way, like you said, the 4 corners and uni's were awesome!

Because he was at Duke a few days earlier and couldn't even talk to his players it was so loud. Shows up at the Dean Dome on a night to honor Coach Smith and the fans are sitting on their hands. I loved hearing it.

2009 team was pretty good right? This team not so much.

They were good. But the game against BC was when BC knocked them off and UNC was #1 . I remember Will Graves hit a 3 to cut the BC lead to 15 and the place went nuts. But again, as you said, I think its because they knew the kind of team they had.

Anyone watch the Dean Smith documentary on Showtime last night? Have it DVR'd but haven't watched it yet.

I read today he left $200 to every UNC letterman that ever played for him.

I saw the same thing with a caption... "Enjoy a dinner out compliments of Coach Dean Smith".
