I heard there was a party in Corbin Monday night after the news broke and that the Corbin coaches are helping Coach Irwin pack as we speak.

 

Playing against South's offense was good for Corbin. It helped them to get prepared for some of the teams in the west that ran similar offenses.

 

Coach Jewell could have tried to avoid teams that exposed the Hounds' weaknesses, but to his credit he would rather play them so that they could work to improve in the areas that needed it.

 

I kind of hate to see him go myself, he upgraded the program to the level of their other sports programs at South and seemed to be a good guy as well.

South Laurel seems to be on solid footing now though and I would not expect much of a dropoff if any at all.

Hazard tv today reported that South was to name a coach today but something has held up the announcement. Another web site is saying it will be the guy form Perry Central. Will it be him or a local guy? Does anyone know what happened?

Announcement was postponed until tomorrow after school. I have heard the same rumor as you, but could get no one to own up to it. He did interview, I know that for a fact.

They couldn't announce today as they still had at least 2 interviews to do this afternoon. Could it be that someone in administration jumped the gun at SL to make an offer and an announcement before the interviews were completed? Surely they didn't interview candidates if they already knew who they were going to hire did they? That would be a HUGE faux pas and unfair to the candidates IMHO.

They will still win games at SL. The kids know how to win and they still have some very good skill people coming back. I think they will still air it out, but not nearly as much.

Not sure about the confusion surrounding the postponed announcement yesterday. But, to set the record straight, the "right" people have been involved in the process from the beginning, including the AD who obviously plays a huge role in the selection process. To assume otherwise is wrong.

I know that the AD is involved in this process. It wouldn't be any other way. However, the fact is that the AD was not made aware of the scheduled announcement; which was later cancelled, until after the media was notified. Sounds like a mixup that even WYMT was reporting on last night at 1100pm.

 

I know that the administration wants to do the right thing by the kids and will get it done! I look forward to hearing the official announcement and seeing the program continue to move forward! :thumb:

The new story on the street this morning is that they have it narrowed down to 2 finalists. Hopefully, we will know soon who they choose and be able to wish him good luck with the Cards in 2006! :thumb:
