Let's not go there. I distinctly remember the behavior of the Corbin student section when they were in our house last year. I believe the words they spelled out on their shirts -- large enough to be clearly seen on the opposite side of the stadium - - read "Cards Suck". Yes, that was pure class on the part of your student section. I sat up above South's students last night and honestly could not hear them above the general roar of South fans. Were you sitting on our side of the field or something?

Have been told by various sources who should be "in the know" that Ricky Bowling is history and will follow Coach Irwin to Alabama. If he goes, I wish him the best but he may find - like some other current SL football players - that the grass is not always greener. To the current South players, I encourage you boys to stick together and be ONE. What you've been able to accomplish in the past few years through your hard work and dedication has resulted in a team who's earned the respect and support of many football fans here in Laurel County and outside our county. In two more days, the wait will be over, the new coach will be named and we can move on.

Boy, I am hoping SL makes the right choice. We're just days away from the official announcement. Any basis to the rumor that SL will hire two coaches from amongst the applicants now contending for Head Coach, as in Chappell and Scenters?

Is this also a true statement about how South Laurel's basketball coach is paid as compared to our football coach(es) because I don't see him looking to move and he's been in place for 10+ years. Does Laurel County have a different pay scale for football coaches versus basketball?

Yes, I was being sarcastic, MT. There are lots of individuals involved in the selection process, based on an earlier post from Slugo, but as you say, it has been pretty quiet in the South camp. Sorry, but I'm frustrated that someone from North seems to know more about what's going on than our own players and parents from South.

MT, we were counting on you to keep us informed . . . sounds like someone on the inside is feeding you vital information as you seem to be plugged in to the majority of steps and decisions in South Laurel's process. Please let us know who our new coach will be.

Not sure about the confusion surrounding the postponed announcement yesterday. But, to set the record straight, the "right" people have been involved in the process from the beginning, including the AD who obviously plays a huge role in the selection process. To assume otherwise is wrong.

You came up against a very tough opponent Friday - - the best you've seen certainly this season. You fought hard but we lost that battle. I know I speak for thousands of fans in London, Laurel County and beyond who are so proud of you for your hard work,dedication,tenacity & commitment to excellence this year. To our Seniors in particular thank you for four great years. Every year you got better and better as evidenced by your record. You've done what your coaches asked, you sacrificed of your time, talents, and especially this year, your bodies for the game and team you love. You have achieved that which often eludes - - you have become brothers and though your football days at South have ended, no one can take this away from you.

South is back. The quarterback question was settled early on and he's passed for 2,500 yards to date. We have our work cut out for us against Henry Clay tonight, but the Cards are up the the task, just ask 'em.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on how Lafayette's defeat of Henry Clay and South Laurel's subsequent whipping of the Generals mesh with your analysis.
