You have to figure they have 100 or more boys per class which is why I'm surprised they don't have 30 wanting to play.

Like I said, it's a cycle at Dixie. Had it not been for 8th graders through the 90's and possibly early 2000's, they wouldn't have fielded freshman teams certain years. I don't think my class would've been able to sustain a team.

I watched Turkeyfoot play last year they had plenty of kids playing.

I remember when my son was playing frosh ball at Dixie they had a pretty good team but not a lot of numbers.

A few factors come into play:

1. Johnny learns he isn't cut out for football.

2. Johnny wants to focus more on another sport.

3. Johnny would rather play for __________ / folks saved $$$ at TF while not enrolled at St.Pius or Agnes.

In the last four years at Dixie Heights I have witnessed reasons 1 and 2 to be the most prevalent. Maybe at highlands or covcath 30% is realistic. 15-20% is the norm currently at Dixie Heights!

According to my reliable source, not as many 8th graders as in past.

If I'm reading the numbers right Dixie has almost 200 boys per class. How much smaller is this class? Even 15% would give them 30. I just would have expected more of a bump after last year.

I don't feel sorry for Dixie at all.

That's a surprise that UK#1fan doesn't feel sorry for Dixie.

There has to be a reason why kids are not playing?

Wow. If this is true about no frosh team this has to be the biggest school w/o a frosh team.

That's really, really surprising.

A 6A school without a freshman football team is mystifying no matter how you slice it.

Surprised, shocked, and mystified...guys it is simply a very small class. It has happened and it is what it is.

And the coaching staff will not play sophomores down with the freshmen to field a team. The small group of freshmen will be absorbed into the JV team.

I dont get why now its a big deal. Like I said this was a small 6th grade class at Turkeyfoot, would make sense that they would be a small freshman class. Is what it is.
