Dixie Heights 2015

So did Dixie and Cov Cath finally quit the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown nonsense? Shucks...

I'm guessing it has more to do with the fact that they're back in the same district instead of their unwillingness to participate in the event. However, I do agree that the event is a joke when regular season games at the high schools are labeled as such an event.

I can see 5 to 6 wins on this rebuilding year !!

I agree with what you say, however Coach Brossart passed his test IMO when he cleaned up the mess typhoon Pike left at Dixie. He has emerged as one of the top coaches in NKY IMO.

The results say Coach Brossart has done a very good job. The typhoon Pike comment seems overblown but I am not close to Dixie so I will take your word for it. This past Dixie senior class was LOADED with talent and Coach Brossart and the Dixie program benefitted. Would that senior class have accomplished just as much with another quality coach? No way to know for sure but I believe they would have been very good with any quality coach at the helm. This year and next without that group will show us how strong the Dixie program and Coach Brossart are.

And the same can be said for any hs program. I see your point VoR from a consistency angle. Can they turn two consecutive winning seasons into 3,4,5 and beyond?

Coach Brossart has been strong regardless. He has buy in from the kids, staff, parents and from a majority of the Dixie Heights community. He has successfully cultivated and established a culture of hard work, accountibility, winning ( and what that looks like ). I don't see this changing in the forseeable future.

It was mentioned in another thread that winning at a school like Dixie Heights is cyclic and I couldn't agree more. Success ebbs and flows. Student-athletes are choosing one or two sports vs. three to participate in. Some coaches discourage football participation and leverage kids with discussion of the injury risk.

A well established youth program with good communication, coaching, buy in, and appropriate expectations is what the top programs in the area have utilized to constantly feed their talent funnels....i.e Highlands, Covcath, SK, Ryle. Dixie Heights will need to improve in that area to share similar long term success.

Is Dixie having spring practice right now?

^ Tuesday...you bringing your video camera sk1?

Why would I do that?

We want updates Dixie#1 fan.

I think 6'1 180 Senior Gunther Faeth takes over at quarterback. 6'1 200 pound Junior Cameron Barnett will be the running back. The big question will be the who starts on the O-line. They do have some young kids with size. 6'0 230 Tyler Freeman, 6'5 265 Chase Stanfield, 6'0 260 CJ Vinson, 6'0 242 Jess Lane and 6'0 225 Timmy Schultz these kids where either Freshman or Sophomores last year.

Cameron Barrett should have a huge year. You heard it here first :)

Have witnessed two very good spring practices and am looking forward to the continued growth and development of this team.

HARD WORK, FAMILY, TEAM legacy from last year is in full swing...Go Dixie Height Colonels!!! :thumb:

How is the QB situation looking like at Dixie?

I have no idea but I think Faeth is the starter this year.

I didn't realize Dixie

lost as any on offense as they did.

I know Cam Barrett will have a stellar season but I hope they have other weapons to

go to because if they don't it won't take too long for

teams to simply defend the run.

That at has been Ryle and Boones issues in the past and it tended to really hurt them.

Faeth is the front runner to earn the QB position. Dixie Heights will have good athletes at TE, WR, and other RBs to compliment Cameron Barrett. Who, is about as clear as mud. Too many candidates at this time. And plus I like to see how impatient sk1fan is...:)

Won't be surprised to see more than a few sophomores starting on both offense and defense. Great looking class with a lot of athleticism, size, and talent...just need the reps! As I've stated before...this will be the year of the "emerging student-athlete" for Dixie Heights.

Also learned Cameron Barrett has been invited to UCs prospect camp. He will also go to Miami (OH)s, and Indiana States. Go Dixie Heights Colonels!
