What does the Colonels need to do to be successful, once again? How can they replace all those Seniors? Whose going to be Qb? Remember be constructive here.

It is going to be hard to replace those seniors lost to graduation. Dixie's season could go either way depending on how well the next Qb can execute the read option. Moore will be missed and that line is not going to be as dominate. Success breads success but they have some work to do. Do we see a new style of offense now that Moore has moved on?

I think Brossart will cater the offense to the players he has. The read option was implemented this year to use the skill set of Moore. I don't think there is anyone waiting in the wings with that same set of skills.

I look for Dixie to be down this year. The talent that goes through the school goes in cycles. It always has. Large senior classes are generally followed by a much smaller senior class. They do have a few solid players returning though. Cameron Barrett will be the featured back. He ran well as a sophomore. For the first time in many years, I don't think they have a QB that will "wow" anyone.

maybe Gunther Faeth could play Qb he ran the ball really good after the catch this season. He is a really fast and explosive kid, im almost postive him and Noah Caple played Qb in Middle School and i think Freshman year.

2015 will be the year of the "emerging" student-athlete for the Dixie Heights Colonels. They will have a tough act to follow considering the 2014 squad is considered one of the best Dixie squads of all time. The good news is they have a stable of good athletes who played in the shadows of the Zajacs, Maichlitts, Moores, and Johnsons who will be eager to capture as much momentum as possible from the 2014 campaign. The cupboard is far from bare, just a matter of determining who wants to earn the many available spots, build chemistry, and execute.

 

Coach Brossart will play the best 11 on either side of the ball evident by allowing 3-5 players to go both ways during games in 2014 based on match ups. He utilized a good stream of second string support to provide necessary rest when needed. Depth was not an issue.

 

Four starters return on defense in Caple LB, Schulte DB-K, Sammons DL, Lohre DL ( all incoming seniors ). One returning offensive starter, incoming senior Faeth WR. So there is plenty of opportunity ! Growth and development in the off season is going to be pivotal towards the Colonels success. Initial reviews are good from what I have heard so far. Don't be surprised if more than a few sophomores earn starting positions between now and August.

 

This group had a great mentoring class to learn from...the 2014 motto was Hard Work, Family, Team. They held themselves accountable, did their job, remained very even keeled and were not very outspoken. One wouldn't know if they were losing by 28 or winning by 28. They reflected a cool and calm demeanor. I'll be curious as to how much of that was absorbed and how much of that approach will be applied this season?

 

At least three will compete for the QB spot: SR Faeth, JR Smedley, SO Guenther. Each bring their own unique flare. Again it will come down to who wants to put in the time, work, and due diligence to get it done in the off season and earn the starting position. As it is with any program! Looking forward to seeing what Coach Brossart and his staff develop and place on the field. After and 8-4 (2013) and 13-2 (2014) season we're going to find out just how much success breeds success.

 

Look forward to some very hard fought battles between the Dixie Heights Colonels and there new district counterparts covcath & highlands. And based on how well this team "emerges" will dictate their success. For now it's one rep, one sprint, one workout at a time. Thanks for that info C1. Dixie lost even more than I thought they lost. This year will be interesting to see. I have a feeling they will be a little better than some might think just because when you have great teams, like Dixie had last year, there is usually depth of talent. The next two seasons are where we find out about Dixie as a program and Coach Brossart.

Kyle Redden - WR/JV Coach, left for a position at Cooper

 

Kevin Eickmann - DC, left to focus more time on family and his business

 

Nick Rice has been promoted to Co-DC with Coach Brossart.

Scot Young has been promoted to Special Teams, JV Coach.

Thad Highbaugh (QB Coach) takes on more offensive coordinator responsibilities with OL Coach Derek Bosse.

 

Have hired one coach, formerly with Covcaths staff, John Hennessey - RB Coach. I've been told they're seeking to hire 1-2 more.

I agree with what you say, however Coach Brossart passed his test IMO when he cleaned up the mess typhoon Pike left at Dixie. He has emerged as one of the top coaches in NKY IMO.
