Survivor: World's Apart

Wow Shirin blew my mind

Shirin's Dead Fish comments to Will were AWESOME. Basically told him to his face that he hadn't played at all and was just dragged along because he had no chance to win.

It was a great season. Survivor is a reality show that has evolved and improved over the years. The last few seasons have all been really good and better than the early seasons IMO.

First, glad Mike won. He earned it. Carolyn would not have been an undeserving winner but Mike was more deserving. Good for Will that he got a vote. He needs to thank Rodney "O fer" for saving him from total embarrassment. I think both Rodney and Will are still completely delusional about their game. Will is arguably the worst player in Survivor history to make a final. I can't remember who said it but someone (Shirin, I believe) in the final jury made the comment that everyone wanted to take Will to the final because he had no chance to win and it was true, but Will shook his head like he didn't believe it.

Yes, I was surprised 3 people said they would have voted for Rodney. I was especially surprised that Jenn raised her hand as one that would have voted for him. I didn't see who the other two were.

On Mike's decision to pit Carolyn and Rodney in a fire challenge, that actually may have turned out to be his best move of the game. Carolyn's ineptitude at that challenge made her look bad to the jury and may have hurt her. I could be stretching it a little there but if you are on the jury watching that for almost an hour, you have to start wondering how bad these two are. Loogy made a good point above though. If Mike puts Carolyn on the jury, that is another vote for him and Rodney was not going to vote Mike.

The final jury was weak. Why didn't the 3 finalists get a chance to plead their case? Did I miss that? I think they should always get to state their case to the jury. As to the jury, if you sit at the Ponderosa with nothing to do for however long, how can you not come up with better questions and/or commentary for the final jury. I am glad Jenn called the jury out as bitter and made them think about who really deserved to win. I was surprised Shirin seemed to have so much trouble writing Mike's name down.

The reunion show was one of the worst ever. Way too much time spent on stuff the vast majority of the audience either didn't know about it or didn't care about. Some of you are bigger fans than I am and pay much more attention to the show in social media. Were you aware the show's integrity was being called out by Dan and the women controversy? That seemed more like an inside the show debate than something the audience knew or cared about.

I will say I am a little concerned for next season. Survivor is getting too caught up in bringing back previous cast members. This season with a whole new cast was great. I want to keep seeing new personalities and watch them play the game over watching old timers again.

At the risk of being one of those people that pay way to much attention to Survivor on social media Probst did an interview and said that they were in a time crunch to get all of the footage in for the final show. They may have done opening and closing arguments and they may have been edited out. That said I agree the final jury has now become more of a speech giving platform for the jurors then an actual questioning. Joe's comments were especially weak.

To the issue of bringing back past players, generally I'm not a fan of it but I did like how they did this one giving fans a vote. I think that the show tends to be better when it's all new players. If they do bring back past players it needs to be all or none. In my simple mind it gives the returning players who may know each other a huge advantage.

Don't forget, we only see what the producers wanted us to see. Wouldn't surprise me if they did actually plead their case or that some of the jury actually had more questions/comments, but the producers cut it out for whatever reason.

I also loved what Jenn said as well.

Or a disadvantage because they have a target on their back for returning and double that if they know each other. Get rid of the power couples early. Just depends on how the other players view it.

Survivor is like pizza. Even when it's not great, it's still pizza!

Maybe it's the inner conspiracy theorist in me, but am I the only one that doesn't believe those were 100% the top vote getters for the 2nd chance season?

I thoroughly believe that they probably took the top 7-8 male & female vote getters and then hand picked the last couple spots based on who they believed would create good drama, stir things up, and provide more entertainment. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they swapped like the 10th in votes with the 12th just because the producers thought it might create better TV.

We the public would never know the difference unless somehow they were exposed.

Agreed. :thumb:

I agree in principle, but Micronesia was one of the best seasons ever.

I liked the gesture that the others made by asking to put the final immunity necklace on Mike.

I thought it was a great season and I liked all of one contestant. I love the reunion show but they didn't spend enough time with the current cast. I always find myself staring at the back row trying to remember The first few victims.

I swear I've watched every single episode and couldn't remember half of the new cast. Wish they had more eye candy.

Today I started to think "alright, Survivor is on tonight". Only to have my hopes dashed. :arghh:

I do kind of have some feelings of withdraw. No weekly jackpot drawing to set up. No drawing to do. No show to watch. No live tweeting with real Survivors.

Throw me on the list of members that was a little bummed about 8pm last night.
