Watched the second episode last night...Outstanding! Number 3 is on the agenda for this evening

It's not quite the same, but when does the series with the American Spies during the American Revolution come back? That was a good show too. I can't remember if that was a History Channel show or not though.

That's what it was TURN. I asked the same thing. I don't typically watch AMC, so I hope I hear about it somehow when it comes back. This mini series was better but I still really enjoyed TURN too.

Anyone else plan on watching this mini-series? Starts tonight at 8pm.

 

There's lots to like about this series: solid acting, very good production value, good pace.

 

On the negative side: full of historical inaccuracies.

 

I'm in to it- but when Ben Franklin said "...bat sh!! crazy" in his dialogue last night, that almost made me turn the channel. It's almost like the producers pulled him off the street, gave him a wig and told him he was playing a lawyer and nothing more. I mean come on- you need to at least TRY and keep the dialogue a little more period specific.

I really enjoy the mini series so far but the one actor I wish was different was the actor playing Ben Franklin. I'm sorry but whenever I imagine Ben Franklin I always imagine someone with more of a European accent. The actor playing him in the series is just like you said, some one they pulled off the street and told him he was now Ben Franklin but don't bother changing your midwest accent.

Pretty much everything except for the fact that the Adams, Revere, Franklin, Gage etc. were real people and there was an American Revolution are inaccurate.

 

I finally got around to watching the first couple of episodes. I tried really hard to like this but it is just so historically inaccurate that I just couldn't. It was different when I watched The Patriot and was expecting a completely fictionalized account of a person and the war but this tried to portray itself as actual history.

 

It lost me nearly at the beginning when what would have been a 43 year old Samuel Adams led British troops on a Captain Jack Sparrow chase through the streets and across the rooftops of Boston. He was never even wanted for non-payment of taxes and would never have been spry enough to do that if he were. And even if her were remarkable spry for his age British troops were not used to serve warrants. Even if British troops were used to serve warrants there were no British regulars stationed in Boston in 1765...see where I'm going with this? Almost nothing is historically accurate.

 

It is about as accurate a portrayal of the beginnings of the American Revolution as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was a true biography of Lincoln.

I was extremely disappointed in this show. I guess they realize that showing actual history wouldn't be exciting enough for about 75% of viewers so they made a video game out of it. Very disappointing.
