I'm definitely in the camp that says they shouldn't have kept the The Big East name. They wanted to ride the coat tails of a league that was the best in America for years, and this league, as of now, simply doesn't measure up.

Damn right. :thumb: :lol2:

The Big East isn't as good as it was , fine. It's still one of the best 2-3 conferences this year.

GT you are better than your argument. You are basing it off one team. I mean Jay Bilas just posted a stat how the Big East as a whole had one of if not the best non conference performances. Compared to all others.

Looking at one team in a vacuum and declaring the whole Confernce bad is silly.

Also MJ how are you not going to watch Big East tourney? I'll tune into the OVC if it's on TV.

Hey lets not forget if DePaul does not lose the final four game in 1979 to Indiana State by 2 then you never start off the Larry Bird vs Magic Johnson. And oh by the way they did win the third place game that year over Penn.

Wow.....thinking back on that final four DePaul, Michigan St., Indiana St. and Penn.

Anyway DePaul has enough history with some really good teams in the 80's to warrant a resurgence. No, the Big East is not what it was, but it is not an awful conference either...........

Cause I'll just always choose a game in the other conferences over it probably. It just doesn't do much for me like it used too. I personally feel like I'll be able to find a matchup that I'd enjoy more in the ACC, SEC, PAC 12, BIG 12, and BIG 10 (or whatever they are all called now)

Never was the case when we had the real Big East.

In my mind, the real BIG EAST (GTOWN with Patrick and the Hoya hitmen, Syracuse with the "Pearl", St Johns with Chris Mullins, Villanova led by Pinkney, Providence with the advent of the 3 point shot, Lowly Boston College, and "send it in JEROME" Lane and the Pitt Panthers, PJ Carlissimo at Seton Hall. Coaches you new by their 1st names like Louie and Rollie, up and comers like Pitino, The stature of big John Thompson, the always crabby Boeheim at Syracuse. Those days have been gone for an eternity. Man what a crazy league.

Yup. That era sucked me into the college game for good...
