I am not sure asking this question at this time is a true indicator. But, yes. I know.

I considered what's you're considering, but considered too that some might not presently be considering what we're considering, considering many might not yet have the awareness to consider it.

I took that chance considering all of those considerations, but you're right, considering what you and I are considering, it's a relevant consideration.

I'm guessing that by now the individuals who prompted all of this consideration in the first place can see from the already 28 poll responders who initially had a more firmer grasp on the topic to begin with considering the results that we've so far received, taking into consideration of course all the the considerations surrounding the topic, all considered.

With that said, I considerer the results to have considerable significance considering that we're not at the liberty to take into consideration the general public at large.

That's a considerable post. :lol2:

I've been pretty well baked every time I've seen him in concert.

Casey Jones?.....:sssh:

For those who do not know who that is in the pic, sorry you didn't get the joke or subtle hint.

Absolutely! I didn't grow up under a rock. :lol2: :D

Interesting numbers so far … :sssh:

I'll post this in both the "Do You Know Who This Is?" and the "Do You Know Who These guys are?" Poll to finally explain the origins of why I started the poll to begin with.

Jim Schue and JDEaton were going around and around in a recent Grateful Dead thread, and these are excerpts of their discussion.

Jim was generally leaning towards expressing his disinterest in the remaining members carrying on without Jerry Garcia, and how without his face front and center the remaining guys were nothing but a tribute band to him.

Jim Schue said:

"I like the Grateful Dead. I don't much see the attraction in this tribute band thing they do in order to keep milking the sacred cow. The attachment of someone so gloriously, awfully bland as Bruce Hornsby doesn't help my opinion."

JDEaton replied:

"You do realise that Hornsby has played with the dead a ton of times, right? This isn't a tribute band, by any means."

Jim Schue replied:

"Without the leader, it's nothing but a tribute band to me. And Bruce Hornsby stinks."

and JDEaton responded:

"Hornsby played multiple times while Jerry was still there.. Jerry obviously thought he was good enough, but obviously you knkw better than he. You obviously don't know what your talking about either.

By the way, there was no leader with the Grateful Dead, every member had their own part."

Jim Schue responded:

"If I were to show a snapshot of the "current lineup" of the Grateful Dead to a random sampling of a few hundred people, I bet that maybe 5 percent of those people would be able to ID the band. Show them an old one with Jerry in it, that percentage probably goes up to 80."

and JDEaton responded:

"I seriously doubt that you could show 10 random people a picture of the band with Jerry in it and 8 of them could tell you that's the Grateful Dead. Recognition is not what its ever been about.

As far as the current lineup goes, you have 4 former members"

Jim replied:

"Jerry Garcia is only one of the most recognizable faces and sounds in rock'n'roll history, so we'll have to part ways here."

and JDEaton responded:

"He is by his own fans. Not so much by everyone else."

Jim replied:

"Disagree. You act like the band was a private secret among Deadheads."

and JDEaton responded:

"They definitely weren't mainstream. The songs were too long for radio, no music video's etc... That wasn't what they wanted. Which would make it hard for the average person to recognise Jerry. You claim that 8 out of 10 random people would, I think that's absurd."

Although we're just a very small portion of the much larger general public, the results obtained have been interesting in some ways to help add further input to their debate.

Do you think the results solved anything, or helped us see any better who between Jim Schue and JDEaton has a firmer grip on reality related to this topic?

That is of course if any of you care one way or another, and if you don't that's perfectly understandable.

Just for kicks I wanted to see what we could learn here.
