Owen County 62 Walton-Verona 47 (All A 8th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

Carson is very good, that being said Grant had his boys in perfect position to defend him tonight, sometimes 4 on 1 but they did well against him. VERY good player. He has great vision and is athletic. Think he's probably mid major material but he's an extremely good high school player. Great game that was closer then the final suggests for 28 minutes.

Blue Collar.

I love it. He flat out gets it done.

Also I haven't seen too many 8th region games and it by far did not influence this final but I'm thankful for 9th region officiating every time I see an 8th region game.

I hope the game falls at a good time for me. I need my Carson Williams fix. I'll never understand how anyone who loves basketball can't appreciate watching him play. That befuddles me.

Augusta vs Owen County at 6:30pm on Thursday. I would say the towns of Augusta and Owenton will be pretty much deserted by late Thursday afternoon.

Good post. Owen didnt really take control until about the 4-5 minute range of the 4th quarter. The big three I mentioned above by McDonald was the back-breaker. Prior to that, W-V couldnt over the hump, thanks in large part to Carson coming up with big plays when W-V had gotten the margin to a single possession.

Brannen has gotten W-V in good shape in relatively short order. Kinmon was very good tonight, a really nice player. They have the pieces to be really good next year, and could cause problems in the district this year. Good size, well-coached, and good guards. Future is bright in Walton.

Oh TB&G I hope you're referring to me.

No surprise,,,I knew that was coming..This is not the EYBL, This is the Ky HS Basketall Fourm..

Just pointing out FACTS.

One4One said put him against someone his own size and he's just another player...this just in. College coaches called and they disagree. His play speaks for itself against elite competition.

Your lack of basketball knowledge continues to amaze me.

Congrats to the Bearcats on a nice run.

Congrats to Owen on the win and good luck in Frankfort.

Carson is a really good player. There is not a team in the state that he would not start on. He is a Jr.16 years old? He has a little bit more time to get his game in shape...LOL....

There is a reason that he is the #4 rated Jr. in the state of KY and the best player in the 8th Region. He is BLUE COLLAR...

Congrats to Kyle Kinmon on a great game last night as well. I am glad to see some shots fall for him. He is a really good kid.

I know it's after a loss, but with that crowd and atmosphere last night, WV administration has to be pleased with what Grant has done in such a short amount of time out there. Could they have made a better hire?

No.

How are Owen's chances in the State? Looking at their stats, they shoot well from the field and 3 and are junior-oriented. Is their record deceiving or are they legit to make a run? Thanks.

Blue Collar, is an excellent way to describe Carson, extreme athlete & no one plays harder. A kid like him is going to dominate on any AAU level because of his athletic ability & lets admit not many kids will work that hard on AAU circuit. But major college basketball is a totally different animal. At this point Carson has a very limited offensive game. I have probably seen him play 10 times and besides one 12 footer, he has only made layups & dunks. His jump shot is just very limited right now. 6'4 power forwards or wings that cant knock down 17 footers struggle at next level, no matter how athletic or blue collar. Right now he is low mid-major, NKU type, and without much improvement in his jump shot will struggle at that level. If he develops a consistent jumper a step up from that level is possible.

Having said that, he is a great kid with a tremendous work ethic, the way he has improved other parts of his game, like ball handling & ft's, it would not surprise me if next year he has a consistent jump shot!

I don't know how the rest of the state is and this is not a knock on Owen at all but I would say their chances at state are extremely low. Outside of Carson there just isn't much else there. No size at all either.

I've only seen that one game but this looks to be dead on to me
