January 15, 201511 yr I keep seeing folks complaining about UK would look at the 50 year celebration of this event. So UK backing out of the game or "not agreeing" to play the game makes them look any better? That doesn't make sense.

January 15, 201511 yr From USA Today, October 24, 2013 Report: Kentucky, UTEP to meet in 2016 for 1966 rematch The University of Kentucky and UTEP basketball programs are working toward a deal to meet in a 2016, the 50th anniversary season of the NCAA championship game between UK and the school formerly known as Texas Western. Miners coach Tim Floyd made the announcement Wednesday to a group of fans and media members at UTEP's season tipoff luncheon. Both sides continue negotiating the particulars, reported Darren Hunt from the El Paso, Texas, ABC affiliate. Hunt said Floyd told fans the rematch will likely be played on Martin Luther King Day in College Park, Md., site of the 1966 game. Looks to me like UTEP got the cart before the horse on this one, although I'm of the notion that this would be a really cool game to see played.
