January 5, 201511 yr Dalton did not play well, but let's not be dumb about this. Dalton was not anywhere close to the reason the Bengals lost yesterday. I really don't think there's a QB in the league that could look "good" with the receiving options he had. BTW, Mike, Marvin and Andy love fans like yourself, just stay around .500 for most of the year, let's just be mediocre every year, it's what the Bengals new slogan should be, Cincinnati Bengals Football, mediocre at best every year! :dancingpa
January 5, 201511 yr He missed two deep TD throws yesterday, other Top NFL QB's make those throws, like Luck for example. Dalton stinks! While Luck is definitely better, I recall Luck missing at least 3-4 deep throws yesterday as well. Look, I'm not saying Dalton is good, he's not. I'm simply saying if we're going to place blame for yesterday's loss, there's a handful of people higher on the ladder than Dalton.

Look at my avatar, I don't care about the Bengals. I wanted them to win yesterday for 2 reasons. A) I've lived in the Cincy area my whole life, and Cincy sports fans deserve some sort of post-season success and 2) The Bengals would've been a cake-walk win for my Patriots. Obviously the Ravens winning Saturday night ruined that thought. Other than that, it's quite enjoyable seeing the Bengal faithful have meltdowns every January after playoff losses. It's comedy at it's finest.

Yesterday was just another game over the past 4 seasons Andy Dalton couldn't win , in a big spot, you're right Andy Dalton isn't good, he's a huge part of this teams problems. BTW I think it was more Luck's receivers dropping the ball, then poor throws.

January 5, 201511 yr I've lived in the Cincy area my whole life, and Cincy sports fans deserve some sort of post-season success I've got to call you out on this, Cincinnati fans don't deserve some sort of post-season success, UNTIL they hold there team accountable for there short comings, which Cincinnati fans NEVER DO!
January 5, 201511 yr "Dalton signed a six-year, $96 million deal in the offseason. A huge deal on paper but only $17 million of it was guaranteed. And after the 2015 season, the Bengals can release him and save $6 million on their cap while taking the quarterback off their books entirely, per Spotrac". So do the Bengals draft a quarterback? Sounds like he can be let go for nothing after next season. Will any decent QBs be left by the time they are up for the pick? Daulton is an average QB, not accurate, and needs big receivers to grab his off the mark passes.

January 5, 201511 yr Dalton is listed as 6'2" on the Bengals roster. He plays a lot "smaller" than that. Too many balls knocked down by defensive linemen. I also don't think he is as "intelligent" as others give him credit. His mechanics and progressions are terrible. If he completes a pass downfield, he is usually lucky because the WR has made a great play. He telegraphs slants and gets his receivers hurt by not leading them enough to catch balls in stride. In comparison, Luck consistently made the tough throws yesterday on slants, outs to the sidelines, and back shoulders. Dalton hesitates just enough on these throws (lack of confidence?). The great and better than average QBs don't hesitate. Interesting observation made about Ben R in the Steelers game. When the CB turns his head and faces the WR, Ben throws the ball at the CB helmet and expects the WR to go up and make the catch. I learned a lot from that about how teams complete passes that the Bengals can't. I ready for changes in coaches and personnel, but I don't expect them to happen.
January 5, 201511 yr I do not intend to read any of the threads on the Bengals because I'm sure I know who says what. But, if anyone thinks the Bengals had a chance to win that game yesterday with the group of guys available, you are blind and don't look very smart. Heck, they were an underdog WITH Green and Gresham. Dalton could have had the best game of his life and he still didn't have an open receiver to throw to.

Agree with everything you said except that Dalton didn't have any open receivers to throw to. He did, he just isn't good enough to get the ball anywhere in their area code People seem to forget that Dalton had the same WR's he had when AJ was out earlier in the year and the team won some of those. Don't give him an excuse for playing bad. For all those Dalton Apologist, remember this, AJ Green missed 4 games during the regular season and out of those 4 games the Bengals only lost 1. Quit using AJ was out so he didn't have anyone to throw to. that is total garbage.

He did, he just isn't good enough to get the ball anywhere in their area code He missed to deep throws for TD's yesterday, that a GOOD Playoff NFL QB makes. Dalton is middle of the pack, at best, about 22nd-18th range. BTW, he was the WORST rated QB in the playoffs, to begin with.
January 5, 201511 yr I would take ANY of these QB's right now over Dalton: ANY of the playoff QB's 12) Ryan 13) Rivers 14) Tannehill 15) Foles 16) Kaepernick 17) Bortles 18) EVEN Cutler or Alex Smith that leaves Dalton around 21st, there you go, that's all you need to know.

Quit using AJ was out so he didn't have anyone to throw to. that is total garbage. Its not garbage at all. In fact I said it after the first colts game and I told you the exact thing during the week. Without Green they were in trouble. The colts were smarter than the other teams we beat without Green. Both games the colts just manned us up and stacked the box and flew down hill at the first sight of a run. They knew there corners could lock are receivers down. Which just like the first game there was no receivers open the majority of the game. In past playoff losses it was all Dalton, this was not the case. He didn't have many open receivers for him to even miss. There was basically two passes where he threw balls where if he had better placement they could have been caught. Every other pass the corners were in great spots to knock the ball down even if a throw was perfect. There was no seperation at all.
