AJ Green listed as OUT

Per ESPN...

Things aren't looking too great for Sunday.

Ugh.

Figured he would be out but in reality it doesn't change things much. Dalton hasn't connected with anyone who was downfield since

the first Steelers game.

What the Bengals need to do is concentrate on the run game. They really need to have Hill and Bernard in the backfield together and take advantage of their strengths.

Oh well. Bad news. But if the Bengals are going to win it's through defense and the running game.

Jeremy F. Hill.

I think it is a HUGE loss. He helps the running game by keeping defenses honest. Bengals can still win but the margin of error just got a lot thinner.

It changes things a lot. Even as much as Dalton has struggled and even Green in big games. Teams still always kept a safety over top on Greens side. Without Green the Colts will do what they did last time and stack the box and man out receivers up who weren't able to get open last time.

So yes Green or no Green the game plan should have been to run the ball. However having Green would have helped in that area just by being out there.

If if that is what the defense does, the screen game should be more effective than normal. Also, if they do a true zone read, it would be effective because playing man to man against good running teams is not smart.

Understandably this is from his injury obtained in the Steelers game, but what I don't understand is how they kept playing him and throwing to him in the Denver game when his arm was obviously dangling. That made no sense to me.

You have to remember that this is the same

training staff and coaching staff that allowed Burfict to play with numerous concussions in 3 straight games.

Good point.

Bring back Chad!

and T.O.???

Trying to find any silver lining to this (and really have to reach here)...but, at least Dalton won't go into the play determined to throw it to Green regardless of the coverage and/or if he's open.

How many games did AJ miss earlier when he was hurt? What was the Bengals record without him?

Actually some

of Dalton's best games this year was when AJ was out. It was just as you said, because Dalton wasn't forcing the ball to him all the time.
