March 12, 201511 yr I am a happy man. 50% off on books at the Cincy-area Goodwill stores today. Picked up several good ones, some "coffee-table books" included. But I was overjoyed to find a "large" paperback edition of "A Dance With Dragons" for $1.50.

March 13, 201511 yr I've just started reading, "Cults, Conspiracies, & Secret Societies", by Arthur Goldwag. It states on the front and back covers, "....connects the dots and sets the record straight on a host of greedy gurus and murderous messiahs, erepuscular cabals and suspicious coincidences. Some topics are familiar---the Kennedy assassination, the Bilderberg group, the Peoples Temple and Heaven's Gate... The straight scoop on Freemasons, the Illuminati, Skull & Bones, Black Helicopters, The New World Order, and many, many more". I've never read that book but I've been reading Arthur Goldwag's blog for years. Great stuff.

Managed to find a podcast called "The Tolkien Professor" and one of the things he does is give a chapter-by-chapter guided reading of that whole book. Really gave me an appreciation for it.

March 13, 201511 yr So what you're saying is the book went from watching grass grow to watching paint dry? Well that doesn't seem very fair. Tolkien's opera omnia is an exercise in world creation. If he'd lived a hundred more years, he'd have probably liked to have as complete a history of middle earth as there is for the Roman Empire. I know that's not for everyone.

March 15, 201511 yr I enjoyed Killing Lincoln & Killing Kennedy. They are both different than I expected, but I thought they were both well done. I "read" Lincoln and Kennedy on e-books - and O'Reilly did a nice job with the narration. I have a hard copy of Killing Patton.
